How Good is Gaillard? Empires and Puzzles Review

Gaillard Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Gaillard is the second Legendary hero from the Empires and Puzzles Black Friday Summoning Event.

While his mate, Penolite, targets both Minion and Fiend summoners, Gaillard is only really concerned with Fiend summoners.

Let’s break it down…

Gaillard from Empires and Puzzles

Is Gaillard worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)

Gaillard’s value is directly connected with the value of Fiend summoners. If they’re important, he’s important.

That said, you might already have a good system for dealing with Fiends, in which case, Gaillard’s not completely necessary.

Learning from the Past

Gaillard’s now the third hero we’ve seen of this type; heroes who specialise in Fiend-ology.

The first was Esme, a healer who, looking back, may have gotten a raw deal from me.

Why do I say that? Because Elizabeth, Hannah, Senan, Motega, and others, aren’t going anywhere. And Esme may have more potential than I readily acknowledged.

How does that relate to Gaillard?

Well, I won’t make that mistake again.

Fiends are kicking my ass in Raids, and Esme (who I have) will likely be fully ascended in an effort to respond to the atrocities currently occurring to my roster.

So, while I’ll be re-visiting Esme’s review in the near future, for now, I’ll be taking Gaillard’s Skills very seriously.

Note: Penolite is the other Fiend specialist referred to.

Gaillard’s Special Explained (Educated Exorcism)

Gaillard does 490% damage to one target but goes on to cast a couple of substantial team-wide buffs.

The first is to make all allies immune to negative effects, and damage, from Fiends -for 4 long turns.

This is great, because heroes like Motega, whose Fiends make you miss by -50%, will have no impact at all.

In addition, they won’t attack for 43% damage, either.

The second team-wide buff is to make all allies immune to new Fiends for 4 turns.

That’s awesome as well, and actually better than what Esme offers -She only protects allies who had Fiends, not all of them.

These two buffs are indispensable if you want to win lots of Raid cups in the modern game because Fiend summoners continue to dominate.

The only question left is, how hard does Gaillard hit?

Gaillard Comparisons

Gaillard’s value clearly isn’t found in the strength of his hit.

Truth is, there’s only Gaillard and Esme who actually possess these skills, and Gaillard (the non-healer!) is arguably the better of the two.

For that reason, I think it makes more sense to judge the quality of his sniping with Control Heroes in mind -as they also bear the weight of a substantial skillset.

OldCynic.com – Gaillard compared with other hitters

As we can see, Gaillard actually hits harder than them all.

He whacks like a sniper… a really good one.

Lianna, the old benchmark, hit for 512%. Captain Nemo, between 300-600%. And Garjammal, 430%.

So, Gaillard is no slouch.

Gaillard’s Hero Grade – Empires and Puzzles

My final thoughts:

I like the tidy nature of Gaillard; the fact that he’s a sniper who can be squeezed into any line-up.

It’s the Fiend protection you want, and Gaillard will give you it without delay.

The fact is, Fiends aren’t going anywhere. And the closer you get to the top, the more likely you are to face them.

So for my grading, the question is:

Is this hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle?

No.

If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities?

Yes.

As it stands, these anti-Fiend heroes should be highly prized, -especially if you’re losing Raids by way of face-suffocation, due to unethical Fiend attachment.

Gaillard’s a simple package, designed to make dealing with unfriendly Fiends, a walk in the park.

  1. First! 😉

So, i am happy to hear that, at least for you, Penolite is better than Gaillard… and i second your ideas about him.

    Nice job!

  2. Love your reviews! I was surprised, however, that you didn’t compare Gaillard with Phileas Fogg. Both are fast snipers with extremely high base attack stats. I think Gaillard will shine on defense by neutering fiend summoners and using his stoneskin.
