How Good is Captain Nemo? Empires and Puzzles Underwild Review

Screenshot Captain Nemo Underwild Empires and Puzzles

Captain Nemo is an Empires and Puzzles Season 4 (Underwild) Hero. As with the other Season 4 Heroes, Nemo is a cut above the rest concerning his overall stats, but is he really superior to his forebearers in any other way?

Is Captain Nemo worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)

Maybe – Captain Nemo looks like a killer under the right circumstances.

Looking at his Special skill, we see a decidedly decent first strike, at 300%. Also, his mana generation speed is what we expect from a Sniper, at FAST.

Added to that, he has a nice Passive skill, giving him a +20% mana bonus at the beginning of each game.

But what Captain Nemo’s really about, is his 600% Konk.

And to get that, we need the Captain to have a status ailment or negative stack.

So who’ll cast a status ailment or negative stack on your team? Frigg, Saoirse, Morel, Bera, Skadi, and many more.

Who’s the best Empires & Puzzles Sniper?

Let’s take a look at how Captain Nemo compares with the other Snipers in Empires and Puzzles:

HeroMana SpeedMain StrikeSecondary Strike/Skill
Captain NemoFast300%600% damage if the caster has status ailments or negative stacks.
FenrirFast320%640% damage if the target has less than 50% health remaining.
Thorne (Costume)Average540%The caster gets +24% mana generation for 3 turns.
MagniFast420%The caster and nearby allies get +63% defense for 4 turns.
GarjammalFast430%The caster regenerates 675 HP over 3 turns.
Bai YeongFast320%The target gets -75% accuracy for 2 turns.
Phileas FoggFast420%Debuffs the target first. Target gets -58% defense against Nature for 4 turns.
AoudaFast450%Deals 500 extra damage if the target has boosted health.
GefjonFast500%Steals Minions from the target.
CathalSlow570%The attack has a 60% chance to bypass defensive buffs. (+Slayers’ Family Bonus)
Captain Nemo compared to other Snipers

I see Captain Nemo as an OK Sniper because his full potential is somewhat random and based on the opposition.

While you have more control in a Raid, where you could wait for him to receive a status ailment or negative stack, you might also miss out on a second strike over the same time period.

My final thoughts:

I’m personally not a fan of Snipers although, I appreciate how effective they can be on Raids and Defense.

Gefjon comes to mind, as a Sniper who consistently draws my full attention when facing her on Raids.

Captain Nemo has the potential of being a real thorn in the side of any enemy, under the right circumstances.

  1. Hmm. At 600% he’s devastating, but at 300% he’s just so-so (e.g. Marcel, a 4-star hero, does 300% damage to 3 enemies). So this guy relies on having a debuff on him, which you can’t guarantee, and you may not want to have a debuff on you to begin with… so yeah he’s nice and I’d like to have him, but I am not spending gems to try and get him.

    1. Hey Byzanthia, I agree. It’s a pity the 600% is so difficult to achieve or he’d be a great sniper. In truth I was expecting a lot because he’s a S4 5 star sniper. In a given situation, the 600% will appear and smash something, but it’s a roll of a dice. Maybe a Titan who inflicts ailments might get a slap back it wasn’t expecting.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Hi Chris, thanks for stopping by.

Both are really fantastic heroes; Garjammal with her 430% hit and 675 HP regen over 3 turns, and Fogg with his Dispel Buffs, 420% hit, and Defense-down to Green. I see both in top 100 teams also.

It’s a hard choice, and may come down to the way you play and what other heroes you have. Are you defensive minded? If so, Garjammal. She will be hard to kill with her healing. But if you like offence? Then Fogg.

Fogg does look more versatile; he’d be great against Titans (Defense-down Green), and he’s also a Fighter class hero: They Revive ~ +30% chance to revive with 1 HP. His dispel before hitting is also great for protecting him against counterattack.

I try not to tell people what to do, but hopefully that helps.

  2. I would accept any five star heroes, weak or strong.. I’ve been playing for almost three years, but no luck of getting any. 🙁
Thanks for the review of Captain Nemo. By the way, my favorite red five star heroes are Gefjon, Baldus, and Khagan. I hate facing them that makes me like them. 🙂

    1. Welcome lol, Gefjon is ridiculous. Not as ridiculous as not getting a 5 star in 3 years!

I’ve not managed to pull a Green 5 star in 2 years as a C2P. Hopefully you get lucky soon.

  3. Old Cynic, do you know any season 4 new good heroes coming soon? Or any new challenge event coming out this year?

        1. You’re welcome. The Magic Heroes are cool, but Cobalt is elite himself. His damage is absurd. I’m sure you don’t have to worry about any more attacking heroes for a while.

          Thanks for stopping by

  4. Hi Old Cynic, I just got Milena. Between Cobalt and Milena, is that Milena better? Before she get buffing, I thought both of them quite similar. But now 390% damage is quite impressive. Thanks for comment!

    1. I personally think Milena is better than Cobalt, but they’re both top heroes. 390% to all is just impressive, and her healing is fantastic. If I had to choose, I’d go Milena.

  5. Hi Old Cynic, thank you for your work. Usefull and funny!

I wish I would have Captain Nemo. It would be a perfect match in my red team. On offense, I think we are forgetting how easy is to put an ailment for a red team. In my case, I fire my Gravemaker a very fast speed and, in the same turn, thanks to the 20% mana boost, I could fire Captain Nemo and… one enemy down. Instant kill at very fast speed. It seems a situational hero but, on attack, it’s really easy to come at that situation. In my red team now, I have 4 heroes that put ailments: Gravemaker, Vanda (also very fast), Marjana and Elisabeth.

    1. Thanks Nachomain, you’re right and it will happen. For me, it won’t happen enough for the Cap to be worth it… But I’m wrong lots of the time, just ask my wife 🙂

  6. Hey Old Cynic,

Thanks for this Review. It’s very helpful.

On short period, I’ve pulled three great red heroes:
    – Captain Nemo (at 3/70 now)
    – Zenobia (at 2/1)
I also have Jabberwock at +20
    – Lady Loki (at 1/1)
    Which would you recommend?

    On red, I have:
    – Yang Mai +16
    – Queen of Hearts +19
    – Gravemaker +20
    – Marjana +2
    – Khagan +1

Also have Reuben and Azlar, but did not yet start with them.

    1. Hi JanG, of the 3 reds I would say Zenobia, even though you already have Jabberwock. While she’s not OP, I think she’ll be more useful, and cause more damage, in Raids and against blue Titans.

Anyway, the caveat is of course, you have to base the decision on what works for you ~that’s just my two-cents!
