Penolite Review (Empires and Puzzles)

Penolite Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Penolite (or Peñolite) is a new Legendary Hero, and part of the Empires and Puzzles Black Friday Summoning Event.

She hates Minion/Fiend summoners and tends to get a little hot-headed when they’re about.

Is Penolite worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)

Penolite’s skills are extremely valuable in Empires and Puzzles.

In fact, it’s about time we had some Heroes who could really punish all these Minion/Fiend summoners out there.

Peñolite’s Special Explained (Radjant Rapid-Fire)

Rumour has it, Penolite’s got an attitude problem.

I can’t tell you why, but it’s known, Penolite will slap any and all Summoners, On-Site.

And there’s no point in trying to calm her down or talk her out of it…

If she so much as hears the mutterings of an ancient tongue, she just loses it.

And as a result, you can’t take her anywhere.

Radiant Rapid-Fire (Penolite Empires and Puzzles)

Let’s break it down:

Penolite hits all enemies. Simple and reasonable. But here’s the thing:

If the enemy is a normal, everyday shopper, she’ll only hit them for 245% damage.

WHEREAS

If they’re a Minion or Fiend summoner, then give her space, cause she’s about to go all kinds of Jerry Springer.

Dealing 490% damage a piece…

Finally, she decreases healing by -50% for all of them, for 4 turns. So, after she’s laid the smack-down, she ain’t letting you back up.

It’s undeniable, Penolite’s a powerhouse in a game dominated by Summoners.

In my last count, for my Top 10 Defense Heroes List, there were 6 Summoners in the top 23. And they’re big names, like Elizabeth, Hannah, and C.Kadilen.

But thankfully, for the purpose of Penolite’s Special, Druid Class Heroes are not considered Summoners (Druids summon a Thorn Minion).

Penolite Comparisons (Empires and Puzzles)

I think we have to look at Penolite with, and without, the Summoner’s rage -so, she’s included twice on this table.

Also, please bear in mind that we’re looking at Heroes who hit all enemies, so Quenell’s not here.

Of course, each battle will produce a mixed offering from Penolite, based on the number of Summoners in the opposing team.

Still, even at her basic level of Piss-off-ary, she’ll hit with the best of them.

For reference, her 245% damage is just below Cristobal’s base level of 250% damage.

Killhare’s a great barometer because she’s Average speed, too. Her 300% is still a fantastic donk, but I’d take Penolite due to her slaptastic approach to Summoners (490%!).

Penolite looks like a Slow 5-Star hitter to me, without the need to get those extra tiles.

-I didn’t bring Cobalt to the party because he’s Slow, but he does hit all enemies for 360% on 15 tiles. Again, Penolite looks great value at only 10 tiles.

Peñolite’s Hero Grade – Empires and Puzzles (Black Friday Summoning)

My final thoughts:

Penolite is clearly very powerful, and it’s awesome that she can bring so much pain to the Summoners.

She’s easy to use, and you really don’t need to take her out of the lineup when there are no Summoners to hit, -because she still whacks like a truck.

We should touch on her Passive, which is worth noting:

  • Every time she casts her Special, her skin hardens. The next damage she receives will drop to 1. This effect can’t be dispelled.

That’s a pretty useful bit of self-preservation going on there.

I can’t see anything that’s not to like here. Let’s grade…

So for my grading, the question is:

Is this Hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle?

Yes -While I’m not a fan of grading these big hitters too highly, sometimes they do so much damage, I really have any choice.

Sure, it’s situational damage, but it’s against significant Heroes like Elizabeth -who’s a permanent fixture in the Top 10 rankings, and it’s still Top-end damage, even if not against a Summoner.

Plus, this is all at Average speed, so she’s quick enough to fire off a couple of times in battle. And once Penolite takes your soul, she won’t let you heal! She’s that type of Spiteful B#!&#*d.

If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities? N/a.

  1. Hey, you read my mind!!! :p

I spent 3000 gems today and picked her (along with Mack & Lady Woolerton… + a bunch of duped 3 stars)!

So… thank you again and again! <3

Now i have to decide who will get my darts… Wolfgang or the gargoyless? 😉

    1. Wow Gixu, you are lucky. That’s a great result for a 10 pull. I gave it a spin myself and… Zero 🥺

But then, you do have to pick between two monsters now… and that’s a hard choice.

      Congrats! and thanks for sharing!

  2. Hi! Can you help me? I not sure how to report my problem. I mean from where E&P will reply & solve my problem. I didn’t get the free troops from BF super gem sale. It totally didn’t pop out the whole thing. But I can see the summon portal. Thanks so much!!!

    1. Hello Jane, yes -there are two ways (I know of) to contact E&P support. The first is In-Game:

      1. Select the Menu book (bottom right)
      2. Select Options
      3. Select the Support Tab (then click on the Support Menu Item)
      4. On the new Pop-up, at the top right of that page it will say ‘Contact Us’

Your other option is to make a post on the Forum, requesting assistance.

      Hope this helps!

  3. I did 30 pulls and got 3 5 stars heroes. Gaillard, Penolite and Thoth-Amun. Best day ever!!
I rushed on levelling up Gaillard as my blue teams sux but seeing this post got me thinking back and man, I should have focused on Penolite first.

    Would you recommend LB Penolite?

    1. Welcome MIB, I think Penolite is a super strong hero and easy to use -can’t really go wrong. That said, it depends on the rest of your roster.

Congrats btw, that’s awesome. There’s plenty of time to level them both!

      1. I just discovered something about the stoneskin abilities. I used my Gaillard next to Boril on raid. While both stoneskin and counterattack is on. Gaillard was shot by a sniper.

        Damage received – 1
Damage counterattack to opponent – 1.2k

        Hell yeah.

  4. Penolite looks like a monster, literally. If I see him, her, or it around, I’ll go the other way…
In an aside, I pulled Guardian Chameleon, do you have any thoughts on this forgotten, but rather interesting support hero?
As far as I am concerned, with him on the team you really cannot bring the wrong colours, and that attack, and critical hit buff, is nothing to sneeze at.
If you haven’t already done so, please let us have your thoughts on him?

    1. Thanks Cornelius -I’m not sure either, but Penolite appeared to be ‘he’ on the forum before… don’t know.

As for G Chameleon, I haven’t reviewed him, but can’t help but think he looks better as time goes by and new heroes are introduced. These old heroes with these odd specials might become gods inadvertently.

      * Removes dispellable/undispellable status effects from all enemies (Ludwig, all the Slayers, etc etc.)
      * Changes element of all enemies to the element they are strong against
      * All allies get +54% attack
      * All allies get +36% critical

I imagine he might be of most use in Defense, where the current MO of most raiders is to go Tank strong, or simply mono. That info could be used when setting up a Defense team. And he should be useful in Raids, too.

Well, I like him. He’s different and makes my head itch, in a good way.

      Thanks for visiting!

      1. I’ve read that pairing the chameleon with Akkorog causes nightmares, and I can now see why.

Thanks for your response, and I agree, the chameleon may well be very useful on defense, but there is still another side to this Guardian.

I have also read, and thought, he may be useful when it comes to bringing nearly any team to the Mythic titans, which means more emblems and loot…

  5. Brought minions on a raid and Penolite was tucked away in the wing. I got smoked. Sniper like damage to all… Wasn’t paying attention haha. Too many heroes coming at us.

    1. Things are getting crazy out there. I just reviewed a Mr. Pengi… he looks so strong too. My Reuben is eating greens, doing press-ups, and drinking creatine, but it’s not going to be enough…

  6. When I’m facing Peñolite on defence, I bring control heroes like Natalya and Proteus. By the way, I’ve never seen serious reviews of Natalya. May I suggest you to do that taking into account the current meta? Undispellable mana control and huge burn DoT which bypasses defense is really effective.

    1. Hey Richard, Natalya is an awesome hero, a great way to manage the giants. I’ll bear her in mind for a review or for any of the Top 10s she might fit into.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Hi Oldcynic, now I’ve all 5 available 5 stars gargoyles. Gaillard LB, Peñolite final ascend, the other 3 rank 3, awaiting materials for final ascend. I look forward to have that rainbow team put together to see how it works in real life. But no doubt they all are awesome.
