Penolite (or Peñolite) is a new Legendary hero, part of the Empires and Puzzles Black Friday Summoning Event.
He hates Minion/Fiend summoners and tends to get a little hot-headed when they’re about.
Before we start, it really helps me if you subscribe!

Is Penolite worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)
Penolite’s skills are extremely valuable in Empires and Puzzles.
In fact, it’s about time we had some heroes who could really punish all these Minion/Fiend summoners out there.
Peñolite’s Special Explained (Radjant Rapid-Fire)
Rumour has it, Penolite’s got an attitude problem.
I can’t tell you why, but it’s known, Penolite will slap any and all Summoners, On-Site.
And there’s no point in trying to calm him down or talk him out of it…
If he so much as hears the mutterings of an ancient tongue, he just loses it.
And as a result, you can’t take him anywhere.
Radjant Rapid-Fire (Empires and Puzzles)
Let’s break it down:
Penolite hits all enemies. Simple and reasonable. But here’s the thing:
If the enemy is a normal, everyday shopper, he’ll only hit them for 245% damage.
If they’re a Minion or Fiend summoner, then give him space, cause he’s about to go all kinds of Jerry Springer.
Dealing 490% damage a piece…
Finally, he decreases healing by -50% for all of them, for 4 turns. So, after he’s laid the smack-down, he ain’t letting you back up.
It’s undeniable, Penolite’s a powerhouse in a game dominated by Summoners.
But thankfully, for the purpose of Penolite’s Special, Druid Class heroes are not considered Summoners (Druids summon a Thorn Minion).
I think we have to look at Penolite with, and without, the Summoners rage -so, he’s included twice on this table.
Also, please bear in mind, we’re looking at heroes who hit all enemies, so Quenell’s not here.
|Calm Penolite||Average (10 tiles)||Deals 245% damage to all non-Summoners||All enemies get -50% decrease healing|
|Irritated Penolite||Average (10 tiles)||Deals 490% damage to all Summoners||All enemies get -50% decrease healing|
|Killhare||Average (10 tiles)||Deals 300% damage to all enemies||All allies get -20% defense|
|Cristobal||Magic 2 (12.3 tiles)||Deals 200% damage to all enemies||Deals 400% damage to all enemies IF they have more than 50% HP|
|Milena||Magic 2 (12.3 tiles)||Deals 390% damage to all enemies||Dispels buffs from all enemies|
|Ruby||Ninja 3 (15 tiles)||Deals 370% damage to all enemies||😂|
If you don’t know, you must read the review
|Morel||Fast (8 tiles)||Deals 180% damage to all enemies||All enemies get -34% defense|
|Elizabeth||Average (10 tiles)||Deals 175% damage to all enemies||All enemies get a Fiend to the face|
Of course, each battle will produce a mixed offering from Penolite, based on the number of Summoners in the opposing team.
Still, even at his basic level of Piss-off-ary, he’ll hit with the best of them.
For reference, his 245% damage is more than Cristobal’s base level of 200% damage. And Cristobal’s on the second Magic charge there (12 tiles!).
Killhare’s a great barometer because she’s Average speed, too. Her 300% is still a fantastic donk, but I’d take Penolite due to his slaptastic approach to Summoners (490%!).
Penolite looks like a Slow 5-Star hitter to me, without the need to get those extra tiles.
And, I didn’t bring Cobalt to the party because he’s Slow, but he hits all enemies for 360% on 15 tiles. Again, Penolite looks like a fair exchange at only 10 tiles.
Peñolite’s Hero Grade – Empires and Puzzles (Black Friday Summoning)
My final thoughts:
Penolite is clearly very powerful, and it’s awesome that he can bring so much pain to the Summoners.
He’s easy to use, and you really don’t need to take him out when there’s no Summoners to hit -because he still whacks like a truck.
We should touch on his Passive, which is worth noting:
- Every time he Casts his Special, his skin hardens. The next damage he receives will drop to 1. This effect can’t be dispelled.
That’s a pretty useful bit of self-preservation going on there.
I can’t see anything that’s not-to-like here. Let’s grade…
So for my grading, the question is:
Is this hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle?
Yes -While I’m not a fan of grading these big hitters too highly, sometimes they do so much damage, I really have no choice.
Sure, it’s a variable/situational damage, but it’s against significant heroes like Elizabeth -who’s a permanent fixture in the Top 10 rankings, and it’s still Top-end damage, even if not against a Summoner.
Plus, this is all at Average speed, so he’s quick enough to fire off a couple of times in battle. And once Penolite takes your soul, he won’t let you heal! He’s that type of Spiteful B#!&#*d.
If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities?
