Alucard looks like the most powerful thing to come out of Empires and Puzzles since CGP. He’s sooo strong that some in the community demanded his immediate resignation. But let’s explore the legend, to discover for ourselves, just how ridiculously outlandish this vampire actually is (or isn’t, as the case may be)…

Alucard’s Stats and Special Skills (Empires and Puzzles)

Key Facts: Fire (Red), Very Fast, Sorcerer, Morlovia Family

Special Skills (Vampiric Curse): 1. Destroys all Minions from the target and nearby enemies. 2. Deals 250% damage to the target and nearby enemies. 3. All allies recover 10% health for each destroyed Minion. 4. All allies get 3% Mana for each destroyed Minion. 5. The attack bypasses defensive buffs. This includes counterattacks.

Passive: STEAL BUFF – When this character casts their Special Skills, they have a 100% chance to steal the newest dispellable buff from a random enemy that has Buffs. If no enemy has buffs, they deal 70% damage to all enemies.

Family Bonus: 1/2/3 Heroes: +3/+6/+12% Mana Generation.

Talent: DELAY ~ +15% chance to drop the mana generation of the enemy by -50% for 2 turns after dealing damage. The effect is applied at the end of the turn.

Is Alucard Worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)

This feels like one of those posts where I’m preaching to the Choir.

You already know how absurdly insane Alucard is.

And as much as you might think that I like to talk, I want to at least attempt to catch you off guard with a little something unexpected.

That’s why I wrote about Miriam & Midnight the other day. They’re distinct, interesting, and can be made better with a little synergy and strategy.

Alucard, on the other hand, is the equivalent of dropping a fridge on your toe.

His high rating was as inevitable as the rising Sun.

Horus was a trailblazer, proving that 250% damage to 3 targets at Very Fast could be done.

Alucard goes all ‘Hulk Smash’ at exactly the same speed. However, he bypasses defensive Buffs. -And the weight of his hit combined with the bypass, well, that can only mean a whole heap of pain.

He will also dispose of Minions before the hit, and his Buff Stealing Passive is likely to be triggered every time he so much as farts.

And if there are no Buffs to steal? Well, then he’ll hit all enemies for 70%… that means the 3 targets will receive a staggering 250% + 70% damage, on a Very Fast Charge!

Alucard is a powerhouse, but thankfully, the 250% hit isn’t game-ending.

…That said, please keep him away from my heroes. Cheers.

Alucard and the Anti-Minion Heroes (Empires and Puzzles)

Alucard may have as much nuance as a Matador in a bullring, but he still needs a pocket to operate in. ~He still needs Minions present to reach his full potential.

For each Minion dismissed (from 3 targets), all allies will receive 10% health and 3% Mana. Great.

And at Very Fast, Alucard will be effective on both Defense and Offense, with his bonuses quickly racking up.

Minion Summoner Supremacy

Alucard aside, just for a moment: I’m realising that quite a few of the new heroes are Minion Controllers. Well, that and the ever more powerful Minion Summoners… Like Miriam & Midnight.

But, producing monster Summoners and trying to offset that by producing Minion Controllers, is a bit of a false economy.

Because, while the monster Summoners like Hulda, Arco, and Miriam & Midnight are likely to be owned by elite players, and therefore end up in high-end Defenses, their counterparts and Kryptonite are also likely to be owned by the very same players. Heroes like Alucard, Costumed Gefjon, and Erebus.

Meaning, the Minion Summoners we commonly face get much stronger, while our common solution to combat them, remains the same. Often a subpar solution at that (speaking for myself).

So, if you keep making the Hulda’s of this world stronger, then the gap between the player-tiers will continue to grow, as the lower tiers find it increasingly more difficult to hang.

Now, I’m not casting judgement, I’m simply observing and acknowledging (it’s also an interesting thing to discuss).

My final thoughts:

Alucard is a powerful hitter and Minion Controller. Although, both Skills are hard to value over the longer term because, in time, heroes will hit harder and the swarm may pass and Minions might lose their appeal.

In the current Meta, it’s difficult to argue that Alucard is anything but a top hero. -The only way he could possibly be any better, is if he were to target all enemies.

Without even a solitary Minion in front of him, he still hits three for 250% and bypasses defensive buffs… at Very Fast.

Alucard may be sooo quick that you end up holding back his Special, while you wait for the enemy to get their act together and actually produce something worthy of slapping!

But then, with Minions in front of him, he’ll not only nullify them, but he’ll also heal his teammates and supply them with the game’s lifeblood; Mana.

For now, he is near the perfect weapon.

Hero Grade for Alucard (Empires and Puzzles)

So for my grading, the question is:

Is this hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle? Yes.

If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities? N/a.

  1. These neverending hero releases are keeping you busy uh? Great review as usual. You missed one thing. Part of his passive. If the enemies have no buffs πŸ’ͺ he hits all at 70%.
    So you can delay and steal a buff like taunt, or hit 3 x 250 and 70 to all. Got him with my saved 29 ETH. Next W3K will be fun 😊

    1. 😁 Hey Fledger! It’s there, I promise -but I see what you mean. That he could be hitting 320% to 3 at Very Fast (70% to the other 2). That does deserve more of a highlight… 1 sec. I’ll add it.

  2. Excellent post as usual. One aspect that has not been mentioned is the possible combination of alucard ( with mana troops 11 or more) and heroes like Kuhfu ( with mana troops? or magic troops level 30 ? ). It might work similarly as the know grimble/ Alfrike combination that charges in 9 tiles only with the appropriate troops and results in a devastating effect.

  3. I believe the passive is a separate hit. He doesn’t hit for 320%. He hits for 250% and the hits for 70%.

      1. Yes, its a separate hit.. but on the plus side:

        The special skill hits three, but the passive hits all 5 enemies.

        Also seeing it is 8hits instead of 3 it will have an almost triple chance to trigger the class specific talent and take down enemy managain by 50%..

        …There are some aha-moments when field testing the heroes πŸ˜‰

  4. I just finished maxing and lb my costume Gefjon and next thing I know, this guy popped out doing the same thing but so many additional stuff. lol
    I wanted him so bad I will be pulling hard this month for him. I do got M&M and already commented a lot about her and the cat at the other post. lol.

    1. Wow, imagine that! You must have thought it was all over with Costumed Getjon. Congrats tho, coz it must be over with Alucard on the Minion killing front… right? The cat is super fun I think.

  5. Hes really an odd superbeing. Hes way too good at the current meta not to want to drop your jaw and say HUH?!?!
    Against minion heavy teams especially those who like to pull Pengi…if you can max Big Al and his defense to insure survival…he can just keep shaking his undead groove thing every time they think Pengi is gonna fire and wipe out the whole board….then right before he shoots Alucard steals all the ammunition from his minion gattling gun and instead turns it to a pea shooter.
    I like that he does have the hole in his game, that sans minions he is just slightly around average for a modern 5 star, but as minions have such a high use rate in the current meta, at least for now finding max effective use for him wont be difficult.

    Plus hes even got HAIR. Chicks did scars…and hair!

    I wonder how the next game twist will come. At one time this game was owned by stat loaded fast snipers, when every decent healer was slow speed, and great defense was 750. Then faster healers, better defense stats, and more available choices mean single shot snipers werent enough, you needed to buff teammates to win, heroes like Telluria (pre nerf nerf renerf) and Guinivere set the stage by speeding up or slowing down the board as who shot 1st and most was all there was. So then we went for synergy and controlling the enemy, Ninjas like Ruby had their moment. The Norseman made minions important, and thats built more and more momentum and continued to this day…but at some point more Alucard and Gefjon heroes will populate the wild, and Even this trend recently dominated by the Kingdom heroes with their evil minions…This too will fade. The SG crew decided to change the game on minions once already, via the truly depressing Xnolphod era. Which recently was de-Xnol’ed and then it ended, (Which sadly didnt just erase Xnolphod from sight, but also a slew of uberpowerful slow heroes who became monsterous with his boost and now are forgotten relics of ages past. Alas, Poor Khufu, I hated him well…I will miss cursing him being allowed to shoot twice before some of my fast heroes fired once, all because of Xnolphod. Good riddance!

    And let us fear what is bad enough to forget this era, for it is coming soon…as all replacement eras have…and it can only be much much worse.
    And we can never wait.

    1. Great summary TLK. Alucard’s speed may actually play against him as he resets at 6 tiles. But he is jaw-dropping as you say. The game is moving on and today I hope to look at Anne… bets on healers becoming more prominent? How else do you counter Alucard and Anne (at Fast)?

    1. Alucard is amazing, and T2 is meant to be the absolute top-end grade unless you near break the game. I was close to calling him a T3 but he’s partly situational (as Meta as it currently is), and his speed may work against him.

      I just called Anne a T3 coz a monkey could operate her Special effectively. But, fully appreciate others might call him a T3 and I wouldn’t have a problem with that. I just try to nit-pick as much as possible or I could happily call all of them T3. Deity was always a marker of a top grade hero. He sits a whisker under T3. He’s a monster in my eyes!

    2. I tried a battle against Alucard with no minions. As expected, his VF speed is still quite formidable and annoying and by no means does a no minion opopoonent declaw him completely. But Alfrike or Khufu he is not Some well healed defensive heroes who can withstand a couple of shots of his sprecial without crumbling and then you can bring him down similarly to most other fast or average heroes, pound him with 3 straight specials, and he will fall.
      Some heroes in this game you wont get that chance, if they fire ONCE you have to pray you arent dead. You dont even consider the iodea of them firing twice. He is not that hero unless facing an alkl minion team that has 9 minions up when he shoots. Then yeah, hes that guy.
      Alfrike, is that guy always, without fail. Khufu is that guy. Costume Gaurdian Panther is hat guy.
      Alucard, vs an all Kingdom hero team…is that guy they hope they dont face.

  6. ok i was a d**k… i had 18 free coins and managed to pull both M&M and Alucard when the portal opened…

    Seeing i managed to cheaply pull Erebus out of the Bards event.. i know my level of luck seems unrealistic..

    But here i am with an almost too huge agenda of heroes to lvl, and atm to get the most out of the food i lvl one of each color: Salmon-loki, Horus-LB, M&M, Eiora-FluffLB, Alucard…

    Alucard is closing in on 3-70 and from what i can tell is that he is gonna be insane.

    He is guest/touristplayer in a red/green setup of GarnetLB-EioraLB-BKcLB-QuenellLB-Alu.. and this far he is almost keeping up.. and giving his VF speed he is really contributing to the team even at the low lvl..

    His main contribution this far is the mana he gives, the buff he steals (taunt is popular) and the minions that goes poof!..

    Its gonna be a killer card when maxed, and even if it hurts i think he is gonna get LB over Erebus..

    *wanna highligt another detail that could make him go from deity 2* to a weak deity 3*.. his class special… in this game with all the speed all new heroes got its not bad to be a VF hero with an inherited manachoke.

      Beta’s full of heroes bouncing Minions, I’m thinking SG are looking to rein them in. You have a wealth of abundance there and if I could take one from you, it would be M&M!

      1. Ok, listen to this…

        I also managed to pull a Vanda this saturday..
        I put together a strikeforce of weak/halfleveleds and two of my favorites:

        MilenaLB-Vanda-M&M-Alucard-Milena…
        OO-My-god… the speed, the tight, tight cluster the special skills makes and with the triple in the middle having 12% managain fam bonus, stealing buffs, both Alucard and Vanda are down to 5 tiles its crahayzeeh..

        I have tried many formations but this is easily top 3 even if some of them arent leveled yet.

        Milena is IMO the 1best allrounder in the game, but once the triple gets going the real magic happens πŸ˜‰

        1. Just clarifying, to get the very fasts down to 5 tiles (30%) its fam bonus (12%), troops lvl 29/23 (15/13%) and milenas random stack of 5%.
          But its hard to keep track of tiles since Milena random slip everybody 10% mana when her spec goes off.

          Neither Vanda or Alu sounds dangerous with 250% and 115/125% damage, but with M&Ms buff climbing per hit and with the general 70% to all that goes off from all 3 it adds up to a whole lotta damage.
          Not to say what Milena does once the bar is 200%..

          its great fun to manage them πŸ˜‰

  7. From the moment I saw him I wanted him, and finally got him off a token from a hero chest. He is gonna be my new #1 red over asterius, costumed gravemaker, Elizabeth, ferant, and zagrog. I do agree on the tier 2 deity ranking but I’m hoping when he is maxed that he will be even better. Thanks for everything you do and helping bud all with your amazing posts!

  8. Guys, which talent route do you recommend for Alucard – he is so strong in defence and in attack too – it’s a real head scratcher! Note: He is my most powerful red so he is going to be on all defence teams!
