How Good is Quenell? Empires and Puzzles Review

Screenshot of Quenell Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Quenell is a new 5-Star Hero from the Empires and Puzzles event, Clash Of Knights, and her rep really does proceed her. She once slapped someone so hard they murmured, “yes please”.

I just released a complete Clash Of Knights Quest guide, and it includes initial reviews of all the new Heroes. So, if you’re interested in another Hero, check it out.

Quenell’s Element, Class, Special Skills, & Talents

Quenell’s core data:

Element: Nature (Green)

Special Skills (Howling Sword): 1. Deals 320% damage to the target and nearby enemies. 2. The caster gets additional +40% power for the next Special Skill they cast. The additional power increase +40% each turn, up to +200% in total.

Is Quenell worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)

Yes -Quenell will bring the pain.

Quenell’s Special (Howling Sword)

Quenell hits like a truck.

When Clash Of Knights was first released, I really wanted to highlight how strong Quenell was. But when your teammates are Ludwig and Wolfgang, you’re gonna suffer a little shade.

Let’s see how much of a badass Quenell is. For ref. my intention is to compare her with Heroes who also target three enemies:

HeroMana SpeedDamageSecondary
QuenellFastDeals 320% damage to the target & NBDamage increases by +40% power every time she hits -up to +200% in total
CobaltNinja x2 ChargeDeals 325% damage to the target & NB85% chance the attack will bypass buffs
DevanaAverageDeals 255% damage to the target & NB Summons a monster Lynx Minion & Dispels buffs from those hit
Master LepusFastDeals 410% damage to the target & minor damage to NBCaster gets -20% defense for his trouble
ReubenFastDeals 215% damage to the target & NBAll allies get -50% reduction in pointless pointlessness..es
HannahFastDeals 215% damage to the target & NBSummons a Fiend for those hit
C.FrancineFastDeals 225% damage to the target & NBCleanses status ailments from allies at the end of each turn & the effect can’t be dispelled

Quenell Comparisons (Empires and Puzzles)

Cobalt is Quenell’s only real competition on this list, but his attack requires 10 tiles Vs. Quenell’s Fast attack, which only needs 8.

That means, Quenell is giving you the same level of damage as one of the best hitters in the game and is also much quicker than him.

And that’s only her first hit!… this is how she works (it’s crazy stuff)…

Once she fires her Special, a counter starts ticking every turn thereafter, increasing her potential Special Skill, until you fire her again. So, after one turn (if she fires off again), she’ll hit three targets for 360%.

Or, if you wait another turn, it will be 400%.

And this ticker will keep going up until she reaches +200%, and will max out at 520% damage to three targets!

And when you fire her off again, it’ll reset the meter, but not to 320%, but to 360%.

Master Lepus, on the other hand, deals 410% damage to just one target. Then, he follows through and whacks his own head with the back of his fist, before demanding a little time to recuperate.

As a pure attacker, I don’t know if it gets better than Quenell. -She doesn’t do anything else but really doesn’t need to.

My guess is, she’ll fire off up to three times per battle, by which point the opposition would have all died horrific deaths.

Quenell – Empires and Puzzles Clash Of Knights

My final thoughts:

Quenell is clearly a top-tier damage inflictor and the type of Hero you can build a squad around.

She’s the first to the gym in the morning and always the last to leave at night. -She was born for this stuff. Quenell revels in the pain and nerve damage she’s able to inflict on others.

While she won’t be prominent, it may be best to avoid conflict when seen -rather than let your Kum-ba-ya singing squad feel the weight of her heavy-handed bombs.

  1. Great review. I think she’s insane… I pulled all the slayers (yes, I’m a whale) and three of them will make it into my main raid defense. Another good entry for your comparison may be Francine – she is fast, and hits 3 at 320%. Francine has an awesome mana speed debuff, but Quenell has her beat if she fires more than once. I like your reviews, keep them coming. Even older heroes would be great to hear about.

    1. Hey byzanthia, thanks. You’re right about Francine so I’ve added her. There are a few older heroes who deserve a moment in the sun, hopefully they’ll get their day.

      Thanks for stopping by!

      1. Oops I am a moron. I meant to write Faline, not Francine. Francine is the better comparison, my bad!

To answer your question: I will be using Ludwig as tank, Wolfgang as flank (I think, I have to see how he handles multiple activations in a row) and Quenell as wing 🙂

  2. Ehy Man, really nice blog congratz!

I was lucky enough to pull her, what path would you take? Was thinking attack, but a portion of me says to take a mix to make her more resistent and fire more…

    Thanks!

    1. Welcome. Well, I have a simple policy with all my heroes: The Defense/Shield Path. That doesn’t mean it’s the right Path for you, but I’m minded to keep them alive as long as possible. That said, Quenell is likely the most powerful hero to date, so going Defense would deffo leave some potential on the shelf!

      Thanks for visiting!

  3. So I’ve been playing with her a bit and she is crazy. After the first activation, she’s pretty much guaranteed to hit at 480-520% every other activation. It will take you 4-5 turns to charge her each time so she effectively becomes a 500+% hit three.

  4. i Pulled her.
I have but one problem now.. -rangerclass!.

There is a lot of competition för them.. Finley tier20, Seshat tier20, C.Lianna x2 tier15, Devana tier15… i need to strip down somebody to fully explore Quenell once she hit 80 ,and its causing me a headache 😉

Quoteing what you wrote: “it’ll reset the meter, back to 320%”, but that is only true for the first hit, as the special will grant the +40% at the use of the special skill.. wich means that once you opened up the can’o’whoop the skill starts at 360% every consecutive use and is only 4turns away from full whallop.

Bad news is that she will not cooperate well with glenda… but thats no problem for me because i dont own any…

On a personal note.. i do have an extra green 5*ether so the next omega quest i will probably see how far Quenell will fly limit broken 😉

    1. Congrats Cougar, I’ll update the post -Thanks.

I actually did some spins in hope of getting Wolfgang, Ludwig, or Quenell. Quenell is ridiculous and could really change a players fortunes. Alas!

      Enjoy laying the smack-down.

  5. Great review on her 🙂 I got her and already started to level her up. Just wanted to get your option. I also have a fully maxed C. Lilianna. So when I pulled Quenell, I was considering if I should limit break Quenell or C. Lilianna, yet Lilianna gave me those puppy eyes so I decided to LB her instead. Did I make the wrong choice? Should I have saved my LB materials for Quenell instead?

    1. Hey Allen, you put me in a tough spot man; you already made the decision. If I tell you, you should’ve LB Quenell, you’re gonna feel bad, I’m gonna feel bad, and any third party reader is gonna feel bad.

With that in mind: I absolutely, categorically, undeniably, unquestionably, resolutely, and sincerely believe you did the right thing.

      😂

      Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Love your reviews.
I just splashed mega cash (for me) £15 for 18 pulls, day three offers are the best value. And I got Quenell plus two HotM, after a long drought on pulls. My jaw dropped when I read her stats and I came here to check if OC thought the same.
She is my number one priority for ascending, all other greens are parked in the lay by. I can’t wait to get her into action. She will get the produce from a TC green line: I rarely run colour lines as they are not the most efficient use of resources but Quenell is exceptional in all respects.
    Keep up the great work.

  7. Hi, OC. Just discovered your site not long ago and decided to subscribe after reading just a little bit of your content. Are you planning an update soon on the Raven family Knights? I find the entire family (Wolf and Raven) super interesting and very desirable.
    Thank you,
    Scott

    1. Hey Scott, thanks for reading and subscribing! That’s awesome.

I think I’ve covered most of the 5-Star heroes, and of course there’s the main Clash Of Knights post (linked in case you hadn’t seen it). I’m expecting new heroes in the next wave, but was there something else you were hoping for?

      Thanks for visiting, too!

  8. I’ve got Quenell LB full emblems. But also Guan Yu and El Naddaha, same level. All 3 are comparable and awesome.

  9. Just landed Quenell from the elemental portal. Now assessing if she still is as relevant as when she hatched? I can sit her next to Miriam&Midnight with Tinsel on the other side, for one. That should be an interesting trio.
