Diaochan Review – Empires and Puzzles

Diaochan Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Diaochan is a new 5-Star Hero from Empires and Puzzles War Of The Three Kingdoms, and while I hope to review them all, I had to start with her… because she looks seriously devastating… (OP).

Don’t forget to check out my guide for the War Of The Three Kingdoms, which also includes a look at all the new Heroes.

Diaochan – Empires and Puzzles

Is Diaochan worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)

Heroes like Diaochan make my life simple; she’s clearly a badass.

The fact is, Diaochan is easily one of the best Healers in the game. You could even argue that she is the best.

35% healing, PLUS a big healthy minion plumped right in front of three Heroes, -that’s massive for a Fast Healer.

On top of that, these minions got some extremely sticky fingers.

Diaochan’s gonna be fantastic for both Offense and Defense.

However, I still wanna dig a little deeper & take a look at stuff like:

  1. Healing -Vs. the best Fast Healers in the game
  2. Minion HP/ATT -Vs. the best of her contemporaries, and finally,
  3. I want to gain a full understanding of the unique abilities that her minions possess.

Soooo, let’s go!

Diaochan’s Healing (Old Cynic Review)

Please note, these tables are not exhaustive. I only need so many to make a case.

That said, if you feel like someone’s missing, who really deserves a shout-out, please let me know in the comments below. It’s really easy for me to miss a Hero sometimes.

Along with V.Fast and Fast Heroes, I’ve also included a few top-end Healers, -just for reference.

OldCynic.com – Diaochan Vs. some top-grade Healers

This table is damning, clearly illustrating my point; Diaochan provides an insane amount of healing for the 8 tiles required to charge her.

She destroys the field when it comes to Very Fast and Fast and is actually quite competitive when it comes to Average Healers, too.

Oh, by the way, she also produces a few minions… which are just a tad, talented.

Diaochan’s Minions Vs. The Rest (Empires & Puzzles)

I’m not gonna cover every Minion Summoner in the game, but here are a few for reference:

HeroMana SpeedMinion AbilityMinion HealthMinion Attack
DiaochanFast (8 tiles)Relocates stuff that “used to” belong to somebody else16%25%
Director ZuriAverage (10 tiles)dash15%22%

FreyaFast (8 tiles)20%20%
Lady Of The LakeSlow (12 tiles)Mana reducer14%15%
OldCynic.com – Diaochan compared to similar Heroes

As you can see, Diaochan incubates some real plump, healthy-looking, minions. However, it should also be noted that she only produces 3 of them. While the others on this list are working hard to push out a full litter of 5 (Lady of the Lake aside).

Diaochan’s Minions (I want some more…)

All my buffs are gone!

It’s plain as day, Diaochan is running a street gang (allegedly). Don’t be fooled by the fancy get-up, even Fagin had a pucker jacket.

Diaochan sends out her minions to dip hands in pockets and to come away with those goodies. I seen it with my own eyes, Guv. And when they come back, she gives ’em chocolate!

These minions be high as f#*k. All they know is Stealing and Sugar Rushes. -And that’s not a proper childhood for no one!

Jokes aside, Diaochan’s minions are ridiculous, and at 15% HP, they’re no pushovers, either.

  • Each time a Lackey Minion hits an enemy, it steals a random dispellable buff from the enemy and gives it to its owner.

A saving grace for those who face her: it’s only one buff per hit.

But you could quickly be facing a gang of her minions, as she gets to healing and summoning.

And with a maximum of 9 hits… she might have all your stuff in the end.

Diaochan Review (Empires and Puzzles)

My final thoughts:

If I were forced to identify Diaochan’s weaknesses, I’d offer the fact that she’s a Summoner.

Over the past few months, we’ve witnessed an influx of Heroes emerge from the Portal, with the sole intent of f#*king with Summoners.

One of them, Penolite, wanted to annihilate the Summoners altogether. While Viscaro, a HotM, wanted to whack a fiend on their heads, each and every time they so much as twitched.

Finally, we had Eloise and Topaz, who wanted to stamp on the poor little minions, for no good reason at all.

But even in the worst-case scenario, Diaochan’s gonna shine; because she’s still gonna heal for an insane amount (35%).

It’s true, there’s very little to worry about if you pull Diaochan.

Hero Grade for Diaochan (Empires and Puzzles)

So for my grading, the question is:

Is this Hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle? Yes.

If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities? N/a.

Old Cynic’s Hero Grade: Deity ⭐⭐

This Hero was subsequently Buffed or Nerfed by the developers. Details have been updated to reflect the changes.

What are your thoughts? Did I get it wrong or miss something? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Hey there, i am reading your blog for quite a while now and i realy like it.

I just got one question about her family bonus: Since she gets mana for every Minion summoned she is even “faster” than fast. Do you think the 2/4/6% make her even more OP?

    1. Definitely! I think for most players, Diaochan will be their Superstar for a long time to come. If you have some of the other gods, well, she’ll have some competition. But for most folk, this hero is a dream.

At Fast already, there is room for speed improvements – Troops and the FB. Great hero imv.

  2. I just had the be all, end all of 10 pulls – Diaochan, Lu Bu, Xiahou Dun and Jing. Beyond stoked for Diaochan, but I think Xiahou Dun is going to be an animal.

Was just on the tipping point of being frustrated with spending a little dough and getting nothing in return…and then THIS happens…

  3. Been reading and enjoying your posts for a while. Fresh insight, good comparisons, and funny to boot.
Did a 30 pull this event, and now I have all the 4* and was lucky enough to pull Diaochan, so very happy (also got Zagrog). Joy!
Minor detail: only 3 minions for LoL. She was one of my first 5* and have been my favorite since. Used in raiding team, regular levels and all wars.

  4. I love the way you described and did everything the way you did here lol. I haven’t been able to see a reference on her yet the way you detailed it, and boy am I glad that I Google her looking for info and stumbling upon this ingeniously genius site of yours with opinions and insight of all kinds on her (and so many more heros!) I’m def sharing and gunna be reading more from you lol, love the comparisons and the Point of views you have in the matter of factly ways you describe them.

My question to you: what so you think a out her AND xnolphod being used together on the field? I have him maxed with emblems down the shield path and I am just now leveling her and wanted to know more on her so I knew what way to go for emblems when I got there, but, what do you think about that duo? Crazy cool combo? Or Floppy dive?

    1. Hi Krissie, thank you for reading my stuff!

Re. the duo… Needs-Must, is what I’d say.

Ideally, for defense you’d have a Rainbow team, but great synergy can beat paper-based formulas any day (I’m gonna use that line in my next review 🙂 ). For Offense, there’s no reason not to.

Really, it’s about your playstyle and roster: Some of the most dogged teams I’ve faced in raids have had multiple healers.

Xnolphod remains the most useful of the two (imv)… But you are truly spoilt for choice.

So the short answer is: It’s not ideal on defense, but still viable (as they’re both ridiculous). On Offense, no reason not to as long as you have other aggressive heroes alongside.

Anyway, that’s just my opinion, you have to decide tho! I hope my rambling helped in some way.

Oh, and thank you for telling people about my blog, I really appreciate that!

  5. You do an amazing job. I watch and read other reviewers but you are always my go to. I followed your advice on the Slayers family and that has turned out incredibly. The Slayers family bonus makes them impossible to beat for ANY of the challenge events bc by the time you reach final level, all have ramped up to fast speed……
This review is excellent, as always. Though SG has the $$$-grab that eventually puts people off, having your detailed insight helps. Keep up the great work.
And how often do we have someone who does such an in-depth analysis also provide detailed responses to commenters??? Never.
    You rock dude.

    1. Thank you Dr, it’s really nice to hear you’re enjoying this too!

This is a hobby that has grown and now takes up much more time, but I love writing this stuff because people seem to like reading it.

      Thanks again Dr!

  6. Thank you for always interesting articles. I was fortunate enough to be able to summon Diaochan. It’s still in the process of being trained, but it’s performing wonderfully. I’m looking forward to the reviews of other Sangokushi heroes.

    1. Hey samuraiGTO, you’re back! How goes?

I do plan on reviewing a few more… currently pencilled in for early next month. I have also reviewed Zhuge Liang, as he was requested, but there are some other Monsters I want to look at…

So yes, pencilled in so stay tuned!

      Thanks for reading.

      1. Thank you for your review of Guan Yu. Now, I would like to hear your thoughts, which do you ascend, Guan Yu or Quenelle? Simply as an individual, except for factors such as family bonuses. The other day, the great top 10 articles you posted, Guan Yu and Quenelle, I think both are correct.

        1. Hey samurai, I think both are fantastic as you can see. It depends on what you’re looking for; Quenell will give you that quick damage, but for a couple more tiles you could get more damage + significant Defense-Down. For me, it’s Guan Yu.

As always, please get other opinions too, that’s just my 2cents.
