Valhalla Forever’s Top 5 Heroes (Empires and Puzzles)

Valhalla Forever is the third world (Season 3) of Empires and Puzzles, and it features some of the games best heroes.

But who’s the best 5-Star Valhalla Forever hero? Here’s my countdown of the top five…

Before we start, it really helps me if you subscribe!

Caveat: This post represents game-play speculation and personal opinion. It is not advice.

Top 5 Valhalla Forever Hero Reviews – Empires and Puzzles

This countdown was actually harder than anticipated because there are so many top tier heroes to choose from. That said, here’s what I ended up with (No. 1 is the Best).

You’ll find the hero’s Special Skills followed by a short review, explaining how the hero earned their position on the list.

#5 Bera (Valhalla Review)

Special Skills (Dísir of Dusk): 1. Summons a Moth Minion for each ally. Moth Minion inherits 20% attack and 20% HP from the caster. 2. Each hit from the Moth Minion gives the target the following status ailments: 3. The target receives 180 Poison damage over 3 turns. 4. The target can’t receive new Minions for 3 turns.

It was a close call between Bera and Freya. I’m a huge fan of Freya and find her +30% Defense-Up a useful counter against all the Defense-Down heroes out there.

However, Bera is amazing and despite the introduction of Alexandrine, she still dominates Top Defense teams worldwide.

Not only does Bera summon a Minion for each ally, but they poison the target and importantly, stop the target from obtaining any new Minions of their own.

In a Raid, I find Bera normally fires off more than once, and if it wasn’t for a good Cleanser, my own Minion summoners would be stuck.

Bera does so many things for you, making her handy in Raids, on Defense, and ideal for auto-playing Map stages.

#4 Heimdall (Empires and Puzzles Review)

Special Skills (Boon of Gjallarhorn): 1. Boosts health of all allies by 500. If health exceeds max HP, it is added as temporary HP. Max temporary HP is 100% of max HP. Boosted health counters max HP reduction. 2. Each fallen ally has a 20% chance to get revived with 30% HP. 3. All allies get +30% attack for 4 turns.

Heimdall is a powerhouse, known for this over-healing and reviving.

And when he’s in the mood, he can blow that horn like he’s signalling the opening heaven’s gate. The dead shall rise, and the storm will clear.

I placed Heimdall 4th on my list because he can be a real game-changer. If he fires after a few of his comrades have fallen, his re-birth can be pivotal.

On top if that, he’s a real specialist when it comes to Very Fast Wars and Tournaments, where his over-healing and cheeky +30% Attack for all allies, is normally centre stage.

Old Cynic’s Hero Grade: Deity

#3 Odin (Valhalla Empires and Puzzles Review)

Special Skills (Fury of Grimnir): 1. Deals 100% damage to all enemies. 2. Deals additional 18% damage per each Holy shield on the board, up to 244% damage in total. 3. All allies get +8% mana generation, and a further 3% increase per each Holy shield on the board for 3 turns, up to +29% mana generation.

When I think of Odin, I’m reminded of your typical steady, consistent, but underpaid, worker.

He shows up early every morning, takes his role seriously, and really wants to succeed.

He’s a team player and has often sacrificed some of his own time, just to make something work.

See, there’s not much special about Odin. At least, it may not be obvious. But Odin is the one watch, because he’s quite capable of carrying the team on his back.

Odin will strike all enemies and get his squad moving.

He’s second on my list of Top Defense Heroes for a reason; he’s effective.

Old Cynic’s Hero Grade: Deity

#2 Frigg (Empires and Puzzles Review)

Special Skills (Brittling Force): 1. Deals 100% damage to all enemies. 2. Deals additional 18% damage per Nature shield on the board, up to 244% damage in total. 3. All enemies get -8% defense, and a further -4% decrease per each Nature shield on the board for 3 turns, up to -44% defense.

Our Dear, Dear Frigg, the frowning monarch.

Frigg is a pain. She props herself up on your screen and looks down on you, judging your every move.

A wry smile pierces her lips each time a Tile brushes her royal garment.

One more time, you imbecile, one more time“, she thinks, as your finger hovers over the board for your next move.

I’m sure Frigg is a lovely person, but she’s a bad hero. And, not in the 80’s way. But in your grandpapas way.

Her Defense-Down is normally the precursor to some serious punishment, which is about to be doled out by one of her heavy-handed teammates.

She is more than deserving of the #2 spot on my list.

Old Cynic’s Hero Grade: Deity

#1 Alfrike (Valhalla Review)

Special Skills (Cube of Dark Realm): 1. Casts 5 Dark Cubes to random enemies. 2. Dark Cubes deal 200% damage to the target. 3. Dark Cubes reduce max health from the target by 224. Max health can’t get lower than 30% of the original max health. 4. The target automatically casts Mindless Attack on a random ally when mana is full during 3 turns.

There ain’t really words to describe the wrath of Alfrike. I shall try:

Oblivion
Utter Despair
To have One accept their fate

Alfrike is a reminder to us all, that some things are worth waiting for.

In a game obsessed with Speed, Alfrike defiantly resists, standing alone, declaring, “nei!”.

Alfrike is my number 1 Valhalla hero because her Cubes are ridiculous. They cause so much damage, permanently reduce HP, and set-up a Mindless Attack which effectively renders your hero mute.

She can hold her own on Defense and is insane in Very Fast Wars and Tournaments.

Old Cynic’s Hero Grade: Deity

Honorary mention – Sif (Valhalla Empires and Puzzles Review)

Special Skills (Gold Weaver): 1. The caster and nearby allies counterattack with 100% of the damage received for 4 turns. 2. The caster and nearby allies reduce all received damage by 50% for 4 turns. 3. The caster and nearby allies get +24% mana generation for 4 turns.

Screenshot of Sif's E&P Hero Card

Sif was a Girl-about-town, often seen to frequent the best Defenses.

At one point, she could cast numerous buffs for an entire team, but now… she can not.

Sadly, there was a Formation nerf, and Sif was a heavy loser in the subsequent crash.

Players sought to re-shuffle their squads and Sif was left out in the cold. However, she is not forgotten.

So let this synopsis forever bear witness to the brisk wind, which once flittered through her hair.

Note: I take no joy in Sif’s misfortune. I simply report the happenings.

Old Cynic’s Hero Grade: Warrior

  1. The issues with Heimdall is that
    1. he heals & then revives. If 5he specials would be in order of ‘revive first & then heal’, he would be much more; and
    2. the revive rate (@ 20%) is way too low.
Point # 1 puts Alberich & Nadezdah way above Heimdall & Mother North.
Btw, I hear M North’s costume rectifies this. If true, then M North is the gal.
    Just my take.

    1. Mother North’s Costume special from beta:
      Special Skill: Hyper Porridge

Each fallen ally has a 55% chance to get revived with 15% HP.
Summons an Elf Minion for each ally with 10% HP and 10% attack inherited from the caster.
All allies regenerate 612 HP over 4 turns.

      1. Resurrect with 15% HP
      2. Minion generation
      3. Regenerate HP over time

      Sweet!
