Mighty Pets: Furdinand, Bubbles, Hachiko, Chomper, and Max (Empires and Puzzles)

Mighty Pets Empires and Puzzles Hero Reviews - Pinterest Image

A box of Mighty Pets has just arrived at the Empires and Puzzles Summoning Portal, and out of it rolled Furdinand, Bubbles, Hachiko, Chomper, and Max. It’s fair to say that this Family is incredibly strong, so let’s gather them all together and take a proper look.

Don’t forget to wrap a ribbon around the one you want to take home. ~If only it were that easy!

Please note, due to the immediacy of the Event & Number of Heroes, my opinions are off the cuff and without the same level of detailed research I would normally conduct for my other reviews.

This post covers all of the 5-Star Heroes:

Bubbles, Furdinand, Hachiko, Chomper, and Max are all part of the Mighty Pets Family and also share the same Passive Skills.

Here’s the Mighty Pets Family Bonus:

‘Fiends for this Hero absorb -2%/-3%/-4% less max health’. -That’s an interesting idea that should be utilised more.

It looks like the Mighty Pets are gonna slide right into the current Meta. But at least these Boosts only help the Hero in question, and not the entire team.

Let’s move on to their Passive Skills:

Mighty Pets Minion Passive - Empires and Puzzles

This doesn’t look like an OP Passive by any stretch… I wonder if the Heroes are OP? 🤔

Image of Mighty Pets Fiend Passive - Empires and Puzzles

This looks better; could be a load of free damage lined up here.

This Family Bonus and Passive Skills Package is solid and looks set to effortlessly complement Minion and Fiend Summoners.

It’s worth noting the single-use nature of the Passives. A good safeguard against these Passives becoming too oppressive.

Furdinand – Empires and Puzzles (Mighty Pets)

Furdinand Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Key Facts: Holy (Yellow), Average, Cleric, Mighty Pet Family

Special Skills (Bark of Protection): 1. Cleanses status ailments from all allies. 2. All allies get +63% defense for 4 turns. 3. All allies share received damage with each other for 4 turns. 4. All allies reflect status ailments and negative stacks for 4 turns. 5. All allies regenerate 732 HP over 4 turns.

Talent: MANASHIELD ~ +35% chance to resist any negative mana status effects or effects that prevent the use of Special Skills.

Is Furdinand Worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)

When I first saw Furdinand in Beta I suspected he was the Poster Child for the Mighty Pets. This guy looks straight outta of Disney or something.

But in sharp contrast to his appearance, in battle, he’s absolutely devastating.

We recently covered the Best Healers in the game, which provides a good indicator of what the current expectation is for an Average Speed Hero.

We’ve also just seen the introduction of the first blanket 65% Healer, in Cleopatra.

And for me, Furdinand is right up there. In fact, his value goes further because he also challenges the top Heroes in my Best Tanks Countdown, as well. And that’s on account of his ability to cause the reflection of all Status Ailments and Negative Stacks and Cast +63% Defense for all allies, for 4 turns.

As you’d imagine from a new Premium Hero, Furdinand does it all.

And, unlike Hawthorn, Furdinand can’t be stopped by Malosi (Noooo!) because he Cleanses first.

Then he drops a Vivica level of +Defense, then the Shared Damage, then he implements a Status Ailment returns policy, and finally, he ends with a healing for all allies worth 732 HP over 4 turns.

But it’s the Total Package with Status Ailments reflection that really makes him a Beast.

I make that a whole heap for Average. If Furdinand fires off it’s gonna get real annoying. Only thing to counter it is a full Dispell. (My dog often needs a ‘full shower’ after he’s been out and about, too.)

I’m sitting here trying to think of a good reason not to call this pup a Deity: T-3 (Coz I don’t like to hand those things out on a whim!). But I can’t think of any. This is Average….

Hero Grade for Furdinand (Empires and Puzzles)

So for my grading, the question is:

Is this hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle? Yes.

If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities? N/a.

Bubbles – Empires and Puzzles (Mighty Pets)

Bubbles Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Key Facts: Ice (Blue), Fast, Barbarian, Mighty Pet Family

Special Skills (Spectral Visions): 1. Deals 480% damage to the target. 2. The target gets -44% defense for 4 turns. 3. The target automatically casts Shifting Mindless Attack on a random ally when mana is full at the start of a turn during 4 turns. When this effect is triggered, it shifts to the hit ally and the duration is refreshed.

Talent: WOUND ~ +30% chance to apply bleeding from any normal attack.

Is Bubbles Worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)

Bubbles was my favourite Hero to test in Beta. Her Shifting Mindless Attack is a great mechanism that really makes you engage-brain just that little bit more.

It’s like a rolling Mindless Attack that jumps from one enemy to another. And on Offense, it’s a lot of fun, although it’s more manageable when facing it on Defense.

For me, Furdinand is definitely the better Hero, but the fun factor can make all the difference.

Bubbles is similar in Attack to Hohenwerf, but the Shifting Mindless Attack has the potential of spreading/jumping to other Heroes. Plus there’s a handy -44% Reduced Defense for the target.

I’m gonna grade Bubbles a T-1, although she has the potential of being so much more based on the situation. This Mindless Attack could be stifling, but it is manageable when encountered on Defense.

None of that changes the fact I’d love to get her. She’s a powerful Hero who injects a new playstyle into the game that feels fresh and smart. [Tobey’s moving up in the World!]

Hachiko – Empires and Puzzles (Mighty Pets)

Hachiko Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Key Facts: Holy (Yellow), Average, Monk, Mighty Pet Family

Special Skills (Strike of a Thousand Howls): 1. Deals 270% damage to all enemies. 2. All allies counterattack with 80% of the damage received for 4 turns. The counterattack damage increases by +20% each turn, up to 140%. 3. All allies get +50% critical chance for 4 turns.

Talent: WITHSTAND ~ +30% chance to resist negative status effects.

Is Hachiko Worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)

These heroes are really strong.

Hachiko, who is an Average Speed Hero, is kicking out 270% damage to all enemies. Just shy of Sobek’s 290% (also Average).

I get it, C.G.Panther and the-likes dish out 285% on a Fast.

But they don’t then Cast Counterattack and +50% Critical Chance for 4 turns.

I think it’s a deadly combo.

C2. Obakan immediately comes to mind. He does (at Fast):

  • 260% damage to the target and nearby enemy
  • Caster and nearby get 95% Counterattack
  • Caster and nearby get a moderate amount of Mana

So, for 2 more tiles you get Damage to All, (Up to 140%) Counterattack covering All, and a +50% chance of All allies doing Double the Damage. This dog definitely bites.

Chomper – Empires and Puzzles (Mighty Pets)

Chomper Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Key Facts: Fire (Red), Average, Paladin, Mighty Pet Family

Special Skills (Slice and Dice): 1. Deals 330% damage to the target and nearby enemies. 2. Heals each ally with 40% of total damage dealt. 3. The target and nearby enemies receive 352 Bleed damage over 4 turns.

Talent: PROTECT ~ +25% chance to get +25% defense for 2 turns after receiving and damage. The effect is applied at the end of the turn.

Is Chomper Worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)

330% damage to 3 isn’t awe-inspiring from an Average Speed Premium Hero at this stage. Quenell, Faline, and no doubt others will give you similar numbers at Fast.

But, the Heal looks to be potentially quite substantial and might convince even me, to travel the Path known as Attack. Because, the more damage Chomper does, the more Healing he creates.

And now, looking back at his Attack, 330% to 3 seems reasonable for what he has on the back end.

That said, this Bleed Damage isn’t anything to get immunised over.

I really like him. Also useful to have a decent Healer masquerading as a Hitter.

Max (Aka Toto) – Empires and Puzzles

Toto Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Key Facts: Nature (Green), Slow, Druid, Mighty Pet Family

Special Skills (Puppy Tales): 1. Recovers 45% health for all allies. 2. Summons a Brown Puppy Minion for each ally with 35% HP and 55% attack inherited from the caster. 3. All allies reduce all received damage from the attacks and special skills of the stronger element by -80% for 5 turns.

Talent: COMPANION ~ +15% chance to summon a Thorn Minion after receiving any damage. The effect is applied at the end of the turn.

Is Max Worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)

I didn’t spend much time with Max in Beta and looking at his Special I wasn’t that impressed. Well, until I re-read that last line again:

  • All allies reduce all received damage from the attacks and special skills of the stronger element by -80% for 5 turns.

So, instead of what we’ve got in the past (an increased Defense against a certain Element (Costumed Kashhrek)), all allies reduce all damage by -80% from their own Stronger Element… for 5 turns?

So, Max is basically an anti-Stack Hero!

If you go in Holy hot for C. Freya and Max fires off, then your entire Holy Stack are gonna be left Charging and Re-Charging the Tank(s).

This looks pretty significant to me, but it needs confirmation. (If you pulled him, please give us a shout).

Add to that, Max heals for 45% and also Summons a seriously chunky Minion for each ally worth 35% HP/55% Attack each.

Again, this one deffo brings the ball back.

Problem is his Speed; Slow. That’s a whole thing. But in my view, there is room for such a devastating Special beyond the Rush Events.

PS. His Special is called: Puppy Tales… 😁

Special Skills (Frozen Wind): 1. Deals 250% damage to all enemies. 2. All enemies receive 496 Frost damage over 4 turns. 3. All enemies get -54% defense against Ice for 4 turns.

Talent: PROTECT ~ +25% chance to get +25% defense for 2 turns after receiving and damage. The effect is applied at the end of the turn.

Cinnamon (Empires and Puzzles)

Cinnamon is a new member of the Mighty Pet Family, added after this post was initially published…

Furdinand, Bubbles, Hachiko, Chomper, and Max (Mighty Pets – Empires and Puzzles)

My final thoughts:

I was torn on how to best deal with this Event; single reviews or a Blitz. But I wanted to cover them all so opted to go this way.

I’d be happy to get a number of these Heroes. Interestingly, given the Family Bonus, only one of them actually Summons something! (Max)

Anyway, what do you think?

Is the ‘Cute’ thing, too much for you? Which Heroes stand out as the strongest? And finally, have you been lucky?

~Thanks for reading!

  1. I really really want Hachiko. Or at least Waddles. 13 pulls. Leonidas!!!! Lol

Me and my alliance mate have a bit of discussion on Toto. The last effect on reduced damage only on stronger element. Kinda to fully utilize this i think as on attack, you cant choose which opponent to attack your hero that would be favourable to your element. On defense, if I saw Toto, i may avoid using the stronger element of the strongest hero in defense or something like that. Lol. Maybe you can make more in-depth explanation on Toto that makes him Deity – 2?

    1. Hey MIB, good to see you. It’s the wording; I believe the card is saying that All allies will receive 80% less damage from their own personal stronger element. So, a Red Hero will receive 80% less damage from Blue Heroes, and so on. If that’s the case, then he’s an automatic anti-Stack/anti-Mono hero.

And having that built-in for all Elements is where I see his strength. It offers a lot of versatility on Defense and makes him a Cheat-Code in anything Rush. And that’s with super heavy Minions and top-end healing. I’m a defensive-minded player but with all the monsters around nowadays, the art of Defense really is Offense, tho!

On Offense, just as you say. But less of a bonus because Stacking is more unusual on Defense. But think about all those top-end Teams fielding Holy and Dark exclusively. That said, those guys are also running at Fast/Ave while Toto is Slow. Still, I can only say what I like, for wrong or right!

Waddles would be a great catch. I’d be happy with that, too. Nothing for me yet.

  2. Yes, these wonder pets all seem, well, quite wonderful. As you mention the big yellow hound is strong indeed. The yellow AoE, hackinko (sp?) is already on a top defense team.
I’d love to get Bubbles. Fast, 480%, with a mindless attack ability. Ouch! Wording on ability is a little different than most mindless attacks, but seems similar to kullervo.
The fast, targetable mindless attacks just seem to be leaving alfrike in a snowdrift. Her cubes pack a punch, but she’s slow and when her cubes fail to hit the one hero that is getting ready to fire, drats!
    Take it easy!

    1. Hey Nurgles, I agree, Bubbles is awesome. Has the potential of hitting more than one and when she does is easily a T2. I was on the border with her because it still requires work/strategy/gameplay to get there. I’ve had it both ways, where MA jumps on and where it fizzles out. But every single time it was fun. I’d love to get her, too!

  3. I was able to pull Hachiko on the first day. Really happy about him. The CA is really nice, but that +50% Crit rate is just amazing.

    1. Congrats! 🐩🎉🎊 Hachiko is ridiculous. You can just see him being a nightmare to manage. What would Elena make of him (202% Damage to all + Counterattack for 125% for Caster and nearby… at Slow)?

  4. I got lucky with having some challenge coins I saved. Had four and got Furdinand and then did twenty pull got Chomper , 2 Morax , Isarnia , and voile waddles, One of my first 5* heroes was Mica, Furnidand looks like Mica plus Guardian Guardian Gazzel combined…. I like Furdinand bark when he uses his special skill. What can I say I’m a dog lover. I’m excited to get him leveled up and start biting the opponents

    1. Hello! I obviously like Furdinand. I think he’s an absolute defensive wall with Dispell being the only recourse. Congrats! 🎊🐶🎉

Waddles is a very respectable consolation prize for Bubbles imv. And Chomper’s definitely an elite Hero. What an amazing haul! It doesn’t work like that for me.

  5. I had 3 pulls from POV and my 1st pull was Rufus. 2nd pull was Furdinand 3rd pull a random S1 3* but got the bonus Morax. I am done for awhile. Lol. So happy with Furdinand!!!

  6. Hi OC,

I thoroughly concur with your ranking. Generally, I try and predict what you would rate them in advance. We agreed with all, save for Toto, who I would relegate to a one-star deity. Thank you, again, for your insights.
    Regards, RM14

    1. Hey RM14, that’s amazing that we agreed on all save Toto! Thank you for the feedback. Re. Toto, I can see your point of view. It can be tough grading these heroes before we see more and I do get it wrong, but it’s par the Course. Still, if I give my reasons then we can at least all acknowledge the floored logic together!

Guessing the grade sounds like a fantastic game. Let me play:

What OC Grade would you give Matilda?

Anyone can answer. I’ve put my answer on a piece of paper here and if we get a few answers I’ll post it. Just for fun. Just to see if people post the same grade.

Thanks for visiting, I always appreciate it.

      1. I’d grade Matilda as an Arch Angel. On her own she’s not overly impressive, but paired with any of these heros she’s an instant rockstar. I’d love to land any of these might pets. Would definitely breath new life into ol’ Viscaro whom I leveled but haven’t really ever used.

      2. Hi OC,

I have resolved that you will give Matilda a one star deity ranking. You would note that her 50% chance to refresh status ailment could be really useful when paired with, for example, Kullervo. Contemporaneously, you would caution that her fiends could be countered by Esme and/or Arco. So a deity one star, but could shine in the right team. Were we aligned? Best, RM14

          1. Hi OC,

Perhaps our rationale does not always align, but we share similar rating views. For example. As soon as I saw Furdinand I thought “Yellow tank, likely a 3 star deity”. Didn’t get any legendary pets in my summons though 🙁

            Best, RM14

  7. I think some people may be sleeping on Toto (at least I hope so since I plan on leveling), big heal, beefy minion, defense against strong color, and don’t forget passives. I am thinking a team of Toto with Cleaver, Hanna, Papyros, Pengi. Summoning minions speeds up Toto, summoning fiends does 85% attack to all. Toto has a lot going on.

    1. I have to agree with you, that’s my plan as well. Also, I hope we don’t face each other on the battlefield! 🤣

  8. Didn’t pull any 5* pets, but did get 2x Waddles. I am seriously considering leveling both up. I think they are going to be best friends with Anastasia. Question: if I have two waddles, and Anastasia summons fiends, will each Waddles do 85% damage, or just one? I read the card to say the former, but it’s not clear. Thanks!

    1. Hey MRG, sorry for the late reply! Congrats on the awesome pull. Yes, that’s my reading of the card, too. Both Waddles should fire independently imv. Thanks for stopping by!

  9. So many new heroes hard to keep up, not sure how you do it! Couldn’t figure out where to ask this, but pulled a Zandria from the Black Friday portal. Any thoughts? Not enthused about his very slow but could benefit from a pairing with my Ludwig and Xnolphold.

    1. This is a report from my group:

I think Zandria is a strong hero who we know will be absurd in Rush tourneys (may break them). Zandria + Alfrike together…

Question is Defense. For me, one problem is being holy, as Dark is noted as the most powerful element with popular heroes who must be in many stacks… meaning that Zandria will be a target. And at VS, it’s not ideal.

Also, on D the opposition can modify the number of Holy tiles to limit Zandria’s impact (6 tiles needed to match MN if I’m correct).

I think we need to see Zandria on Defense and tested, but the situational nature of the special at VS might be a significant weakness. (Tho, bear in mind, it’s only 1.5 more than MN)

If I had Zandria I’d be testing!
