Kullervo Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Kullervo is a new 5-Star Hero from the Empires and Puzzles event, Legends of Kalevala. He’s a super hitter and controller, making him ideal for both Defense and Offense.

How Good is Kullervo? (Empires and Puzzles)

First, let me express my deepest gratitude to the Board of Directors at SG who have seen fit to admit me into the Beta program.

It’s crazy cool in there.

I get to play with all the new heroes for free! You should see me slapping the life signs outa folk.

In there, in that hallowed place, I’m a true badass.

Then it’s back to reality, just me and Roc, grinding out those wins…

Ahh, I remember where I was going now, point is, I got to test Kullervo before talking about him.

Sweet.

And OC? Is he any good? (gosh, this guy)…

YES! He’s awesome. If I had him, he’d already be levelled.

Double Slap Mindless Attack Special (Kullervo – Empires & Puzzles)

Kullervo’s Special is the best of its type (the double tappers or the two hitters).

And the reason for that is the Mindless Attack.

I know I said Kullervo could play Defense (and I believe he could), but Kullervo’s actual speciality would have to be Offense. -Where you can micro-manage his output.

With him Charged and ready to go, you could safely face any of the monsters in the game today.

Because, just as they’re about to fire off, you could drop Mindless Attack on them. Causing them to slap an ally, lose their charge, and return to the back of the queue.

And as a bonus, you’d also tap somebody else on the shoulder, causing them to endure a 470% rocking and an unwelcomed dizzy spell.

Kullervo’s just a great hero to have.

Kullervo Vs. the Double Tappers

For this table, I’m gonna focus on similar 2-hitters (and a couple of ‘norms’ for good measure):

HeroMana SpeedDamageSecondaryTotal Damage
KullervoAverage (10 tiles)Deals 300% damage to the target & 470% to a random targetMindless Attack for both victims770%

Kullervo Table – Empires and Puzzles

It’s clear from this table that the trade-off with Kullervo is speed.

Zekena (at Fast) does more pound-4-pound damage than Kullervo, but I’d still take Kullervo.

Because with Mindless Attack attached to those hits, well…

Plus, I’ve got a nice pair of Troops he can wear (after a shower of course).

Kullervo Review (Empires and Puzzles)

My final thoughts:

If you read my Legends of Kalevala guide, you’ll know I picked Louhi as my overall favourite. But that’s because she’s a one-button-wonder.

However, it’s Kullervo who’s the most fun. His double Mindless Attack is awesome and leaves you feeling like a total genius, like the smartest person in the room, every time you use it.

Despite having a 2 in 5 chance of rendering someone… Mindless. You still walk away feeling like you made it happen… like you shut down X-O-Pod with your utter skilful brilliance.

What do you make of him? Let me know in the comments below!

Hero Grade for Kullervo (Empires and Puzzles)

So for my grading, the question is:

Is this hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle? Yes.

If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities? N/a.

  1. Some how I pulled him after a long long long dry spell. Been using him at 3/50 something alongside my trustee duo Sif and Prof and yep, he’s damn good. Throw in Lepi as well and it’s mana control heaven.

In fast wars with Alfrike tanking and him beside her it’s gonna be damn tough to get past the two of them.

  2. I love mindless when I am using it, and loathe it when hit by it. This is why Hansel is one of my favorite 4* heroes, even if he has a different version of it.
This is the one highest on my wish list from this event.
Spent all my EHT yesterday without getting him, but did get Louhi, so still very happy.

  3. Does he hit titans twice like Zakena and Zenobia? As discriltion says random different enemy and titan is only one. Zenobia card discriltion says, damage double if only one enemy.
Second think, damage is calculated like (A/D)^1.35. So 750% damage is not equal to 2*375% damage. 2*375 damage is very less than 750% damage

  4. Great hero and out of all of the 5 stars, I think he is the most desirable. But his appearance…. scrawny shirtless guy with little knife, really does not justify his heavy hit and mindless effect. LOL

    1. I’d say so, congrats 🎉, I’d really like to have Kullervo. He can manage just about any hero, given a reasonable set of tiles. Of course, different heroes so different applications, but he’s fantastic.

  5. Costume Kullervo ups the game. Now the big hit is aim-able! It was never a bad thing to have a canon that fires at one of the enemies…guaranteed its gonna hit somebody. But the ability to now have him sober before he lets punches fly…hit the guy pickup up on his fiance instead of possibly the uber driver picking them both up because hes too blitched to drive home…
    Its just way better.
The only question is, does that net him that final star?

I think on it, it definitely is a step in the proper direction, but hes still defensible with aimed effort (ailment blocking healers, Malosi’ing, or simply shooting him early because hes average and 3 big fast and very fast hits will get him) . Im tempted to say, not quite…but hes much more valuable on offense now.

    1. Hey tlk, I agree, also with him still being a T2. It’s all relative as they move the benchmark up, but I do like the prospect of more control. He’s a fantastic hero, a real prize.

  6. I picked up him and his costume so I am rather chuffed. Just think, the guy I did not much like because of the devastation he wreaked on my team, and because he was so scrawny, has now moved into the penthouse along with his shirt.
