Staintongue: Abyss Hunter Family (Empires & Puzzles)

Staintongue Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Staintongue is the latest Abyss Hunter to swagger outta the Empires and Puzzles Covenant Portal, and his core skills will bring a lot to the party, not to mention a couple of decent Passives to boot.

This will be the first Hero review in my new shorter, more concise format. Let’s go!

Staintongue … (Empires and Puzzles)

The “Hit-3” Fast attack Hero is well-established in Empires and Puzzles, and Staintongue follows closely in their wake.

There’s an elite group of this type of Hero -the Quenells, the El Naddahas, the Tinsels, and the Falines, of the world, and Staintongue can now be counted among them.

OldCynic.com – Staintongue compared with similar Heroes

Thankfully, we now have a solid selection of primed 3-Hitters to compare with, and it’s clear to me that Staintongue is right up there with the best of them.

Interestingly, his base attack stat is 850. Let’s compare that to the rest:

  • El Naddaha = 821
  • Quenell = 795
  • Faline = 784
  • Tinsel = 838

So, of this group, he’s definitely gonna bang the most.

That said, if I had to pick one, I’d probably go for El Naddaha for that Status Effect blocker. But it’s a tough call coz they’re all great.

Staintongue (Empires and Puzzles)

My final thoughts:

Staintongue has even more plus points, like that Hunter’s Mark Passive and the Hunter’s Sense Ailment removal (or Healing).

However, to ascertain his value beyond the doggy breath, we really need to understand the Ailments he inflicts (-accuracy and Poison damage).

~Tinsel can help here because she has a similar setup. And as you can see from the table above, her reduced accuracy starts at -10% and increases according to the number of tiles on the board.

Whereas Staintongue’s will automatically increase by 10% per turn. ~So, his top end of -50% accuracy is locked in.

He also has a good, solid amount of Poison damage (342) that he inflicts on 3 targets [which could Stack quite nicely with Viselus, btw].

But first and foremost, at his core, Staintongue is a quick hitter. And with the bells and whistles, and a very useful defensive measure (-accuracy), in my view, he does more than enough to earn a second star.

He’s an elite Hero for sure.

Hero Grade for Staintongue

So for my grading, the question is:

Is this hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle? Yes.

If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities? N/a.

  1. Have him now at 4/30-ish and simply love him! Have none of the others mentioned so I do like his special. His hit is already hard, and the accuracy drop is just perfect! And the passive… só fun.
Not sure if Paladin is the best class for this one, though.

    Conclusion:
He is not so strong that a nerf is imminent, but he is clearly strong enough to outshine many others.
