Royal Match Lava Quest Guide [How To Play & Beat It]

The Royal Match Lava Quest is a fun challenge where you have a chance to win a share of 10,000 Gold Coins.
In this post, I’m going to explain how it works and offer my best tips for beating it.
I’ve been playing Royal Match for about 10 months now and have reached level 6172. My goal is to clock the base game and then join the elites in the Royal League.
As a free-to-play player, it’s crucial that I collect all the free Gold Coins I can, and that’s why the Lava Quest is so important.
The Lava Quest is a fantastic way to boost your reserves and keep that free-to-play train rolling.

This post may contain speculation, personal opinion, and adult comedy. It is not advice and is solely for entertainment and informational purposes.

How Does the Lava Quest Work? (Royal Match)
The Lava Quest is a short Royal Match challenge where you have to beat 7 consecutive levels without losing to win part of a grand prize.
The contest begins with 100 players and those who manage to complete the next 7 levels on their first try will earn part of the 10,000 Gold Coin prize.
The Lava Quest is open for 24 hours and will result in a failure beyond that limit. But don’t worry, you can start again after 30 minutes.
Note: The Lava Quest is only available to players who have reached level 66, and it requires an internet connection to play.

How to Beat the Lava Quest [Stuck in Royal Match?]
If you’re reading this post, I suspect you’re failing due to insufficient Gold Coins and being stuck on a certain level.
I will be writing a post to help you get unstuck, but for now, I will focus on creating the perfect environment for winning the Lava Quest.
The most important element for consistently winning the Lava Quest is momentum.
Beating levels consistently will give you the Super Light Ball; a huge advantage for completing levels and collecting free Boosters…
…which will help you win more levels and around the circle of success will turn.
Tip 1: Take Every Level Seriously
Royal Match appears to be a simple Match-3 puzzle game on the surface. However, it doesn’t take long before it becomes quite the challenge, especially if you’re intent on not spending money.
It’s easy to nonchalantly go at levels, make a few careless moves, and cost yourself a bunch of resources.
If you do that too many times, you’ll quickly run out of Gold Coins and Boosters and will find the game much harder than it need be.
Of course, some levels are challenging, however, we have to do our best to clear the more straightforward levels on our first attempt.
To achieve that, I suggest only playing when you have the time to really focus on the game.
Tip 2: Activate The Super Light Ball
Telling a stuck player to activate the Super Light Ball is like telling a thirsty person in the desert to “just drink some water”;
They would if they could!
Nonetheless, this is a key component of winning free coins from the Lava Quest.
To get the Super Light Ball you need to reach level 292 and then beat 10 levels to activate the bonus.
And once you have it, all effects involving the Super Light Ball will be doubled.
Most importantly, after you’ve activated the Super Light Ball, make keeping it your highest priority!
Tip 3: Collect All In-Game Boosters Available To You
It’s best to start the Lava Quest with both Gold Coins and Boosters, so before you start, visit the different areas of your home screen and collect what resources are available to you.
Here’s a checklist:
- Team Battle rewards
- Solo Event Rewards (Like Pinata Party and the Hidden Temple)
- Royal Pass (Free rewards)
- Sale Offers (which sometimes give free Boosters)
- Complete “Areas” and collect rewards
The idea is to have options when you’re up against the wall because failing can not be one of them when you’re trying to win the Lava Quest!
Tip 4: Take Pre-Game Boosters If Low On Coins Or On Hard Levels
Pre-game Boosters are even more important when completing the Lava Quest.
In short, use them, especially if you don’t have any Gold Coins or In-Game Boosters.

Generally speaking, I will always use Pre-game Boosters before going into a more difficult level.
Tip 5. *Use* In-Game Boosters & Gold Coins
If you find yourself on a challenging level, use your resources to beat it!
I find that it’s best to use In-Game Boosters first (when up against it), in the hope of saving all my Gold Coins.
But whatever you decide to do, chances are, it’s better to use resources on the level, than to fail the level and ultimately lose the Super Light Ball.

Royal Match: Lava Quest Tips
My final thoughts:
Do you have any tips for winning the Lava Quest?
Feel free to share them in the comments below.
And if you find these guides useful, please consider sharing a link somewhere (it would really help me).
Since my initial Royal Match review, I’ve written quite a few guides, including:

Nice article, OC!
I would also make the observation that the rewards achievable on Lava Quest depend not only upon ones ability to complete seven levels in a row, but on how many other players do the same. I’ve shared the 10,000 coins with as few as three other players (for a lovely 2,500 coins per person) or as many as eleven others (for a measly 840 coins reward).
This may seem irrelevant – how can one possibly know how many other players can complete seven levels in a row? – but there are two sets of circumstances which can have an impact.
The first is the Bonus Level that arises at the end of each ‘Area’. These are impossible not to complete (unless your phone dies half way through, or you uninstall the app!) so if one pops up while you are in the middle of Lava Quest, your cohort only needs to complete SIX levels to share the spoils, instead of SEVEN. As such, the number of winners with whom you will have to share the pot will increase.
The second scenario arises when a new game element is added to Royal Match, which happens as certain level thresholds are reached – generally those ending with 51 or 01 . For example, the Honey Pot element appears at Level 2201. When a new element is added, the first few levels are deliberately easy to complete – and again this means that more players than average will clear them.
Personally, I try to delay starting a Lava Quest until after a milestone level is reached, reducing the chance that I will have to share the pot with a legion of other players!
Hello Tim! You make a great point.
I have had the tendency to charge through the Lava Quest whenever it appears in my rush to get those coins but you’re right about timing.
In my time, I’ve also enjoyed a 3 share win and it happened after I had completed all but one level. Then a delay of a few hours, then I returned to complete it.
I thought that might have been the reason, but no joy when trying it again.
I’ve seen something online about a single person winning and if this ever happens I’ll be posting about it.
I was wondering if you got a lot of free cards following your request on that other post! Thanks for stopping by!
I had the joy of being the sole winner of Lava Quest, but it only happened once and I don’t recall and special circumstances around it.
Tim’s ideas about timing are helpful! Thanks, Tim!
When starting the Lava Quest you want the last digit of the level you are on to be a 3, 4, 5 or 9. Starting at these levels are the only way to ensure that your 7 levels includes a Hard and Super Hard level. This reduces the number of people who are successful netting you more coins. I tend to try to do 3 or 9 because these end with one of the difficult levels which for some reason seems to make a difference. Using this strategy I usually have 7 or less players to split it with and this has allowed me to be the sole winner 6 times.
Thanks for the tips, Clark. I’ll be testing it out!
This is a great piece of advice, Clark! Any thoughts on whether the strategy would be any different for Royal League players? For example, at the moment I am on level 208 of the current Royal League.
Update: the strategy DOES appear to hold true in Royal League – although so far, my lowest split was only six ways.
I’ve tried a 3 starting point and got a 6-split but I keep forgetting in the morning and just click the opt-in! …
Hi OC. I enjoy and benefit from your tips! Thank you for sharing them.
But I’ve always wondered … what is a “free to play” player?
Thanks for reading Kelley.
Free to Play means I don’t put any money into the game… I am free 2 play! 🙂
Thanks again!
