Royal Match: King’s Cup Tournament (Guide & Tips)
I recently took first place in a Royal Match King’s Cup and I’m using it as an excuse to write a guide and share some helpful tips.
The King’s Cup has become an important event since the introduction of the new Royal Card Collection.
That’s because the top prize (sometimes) contains a Red Card Pack. -And a Red Card Pack guarantees a minimum of at least 1 New Card for the Royal Collection.
The rewards drove me to take on the King’s Cup, and below I’ll share the process and my guide.
About me: I’m a free-to-play player, currently on level 8275, and have a healthy cash reserve of over 146K in free coins.
This post may contain speculation, personal opinion, and adult comedy. It is not advice and is solely for entertainment and informational purposes.
How Does the King’s Cup Work? (Royal Match)
The Royal Match King’s Cup is a simple 2-day tournament where 50 players compete for prizes and rewards.
You earn Cups by completing levels and will earn extra Cups from harder levels.
The King’s Cup is an online event and you must reach level 25 to participate.
Here’s a screenshot of a King’s Cup Standings Table:
At the end of the tournament, the player with the most Cups is declared champion and will receive the following rewards…
King’s Cup Rewards [Inc. Red Card Pack]
Here’s what you will receive for winning the King’s Cup:
- 1 Red Card Pack (for the Royal Collection)
- 3 Hours of Free Lives
- 3 Light Balls, 3 Rockets, and 3 TNTs (Pre-Game Boosters)
- 1 Arrow, 1 Royal Hammer, 1 Cannon, and 1 Jester Hat (In-Game Boosters)
How to Win the King’s Cup [Royal Match Tips]
The King’s Cup is much like the Team Battle, in that you simply have to complete as many levels as possible within the time limit to have the best chance of winning.
Here are my tips for winning the King’s Cup:
- At the start of the King’s Cup, grind out lots of levels and try to take the lead
- Then, set alarms to prompt yourself to periodically check the Standings Table so that you can respond to any changes
- Consider local time and the end time of the tournament
- Cross your fingers!
In plain words: It’s important to build up a healthy lead and then retain it.
Every 3 or so hours during the King’s Cup (daytime hours only!), I will log in to Royal Match to check the Standings Table and decide whether or not to grind out more levels.
As I’m in the UK, the King’s Cup is scheduled to end in the morning, meaning, I’ll miss the last 8 to 10 hours of the tournament because I’ll be sleeping!
To counter the risk of losing the Cup while I’m asleep, I will grind out more levels before bed to develop a substantial gap between me and second place.
Finally, once I’ve done my best, the only thing left to do is to hope that someone doesn’t surpass me while I’m dreaming of chocolate cake and a better world.
Here’s a screenshot of my recent win:
King’s Cup and The Royal Collection
As mentioned above, I needed this King’s Cup win for the Red Card Pack reward.
With only 3 days left in the Grand Royal Collection event, I was still missing 2 Gold Cards.
And it had been that way for about a week! They can be soooo elusive!
As you may know, you can’t trade Gold Cards so I had to find them myself.
But there was some hope in that I was saving enough Card Stars to open one final Red Chest (meaning I would get at least one more Gold Card).
And more hope came by way of a new King’s Cup event and it’s 1st place reward.
Well, it all worked out in the end:
…Another 15K from the Grand Royal Collection in the bank!
Royal Match: A King’s Cup Victory
My final thoughts:
I had 352 Cups in my King’s Cup victory, but looking at the standings, I probably could have gotten away with less.
I can’t be sure if we’re playing against real players in real-time with this event, or if we’re facing bots with an arbitrary set of Cups as the challenge.
Either way, winning the King’s Cup takes dedication to grinding levels for the duration of the tournament.
