Mega Minions in the Crosshairs! Another E&P June Balance Update

Empires and Puzzles News Events at Old Cynic 2025

Empires & Puzzles just received another June Balance Update, and there’s no hiding it, Mega Minions are in the crosshairs.

It’s crazy to think that on Wednesday, I was celebrating the capture of my very first 5-Star Moth (Auricarc), and now, a couple of days later, he’s subject to this update.

The second June Balance Update has already gone into effect, and it introduces a bunch of buffs to some premier families.

Let’s take a quick look at the paperwork before discussing the implications.

June 2025 Balance Update Part 2 (Empires & Puzzles)

Here are the details from Part 2 of the June Balance Update:

Woodland Faun Family

  • New Passive Skill: Minion Blind
    • All enemies’ Minions have -60% accuracy. All enemies’ Mega Minions have -50% accuracy
    • Affected Heroes: Verity, Saskia, Peregrine, Ysabel, Araminta, Bramble, Isidore, Ascian, Myrtle, Jolyon, Philomena, Yolanda, Maud

My initial thoughts: I hate missing and -50% for all Mega Minions will be significantly annoying to live with. But let’s not ignore the effect on regular Minions… -60%! If you take a look at the Woodland Faun Heroes, you’ll notice that they already have some monster Passives! They already resist Insanity and Status Ailments, Stacks, and Wither effects on Attack. Yet more, their Family Bonus allows them to resist mana reductions and lets them slap Minions/Mega Minions even harder!

Moth Family

  • New effect for Moth Dust:
    • Mega Minion’s current health is reduced by 50% each turn
    • Affected Heroes: All Heroes of the Moth Family

My initial thoughts: Well, on paper, this is great news if you’re struggling with Mega Minions… However, it’s not so great for Auricarc. It was a commenter on the E&P Forum who highlighted the issue, you see, Auricarc steals Mega Minions, and it’s a key part of his Special Skills; meanwhile, this new Moth Dust effect could kill or weaken a Mega Minion before he gets to it! Remember, though, the Moth Dust targeting is random, so it might not hit the one with the Mega Minion. Auricarc’s issue aside, this isn’t as decisive as the Woodland Faun Passive but could still be impactful.

Wild Cat Family

  • Family Bonus buffed:
    • Dodging Special Skills now damages the attacker for 100/200/300 damage (with 1/2/3 family members in the team)
  • “Nine Lives” passive skill buffed:
    • Chance to revive increased: 75% → 80%
    • Mana on revival increased: 75% → 80%
  • Clawing damage buffed:
    • Extra damage and defense reduction now also applies to enemies with active defense buffs

My initial thoughts: The 80% revive chance stands out to me. It might be hard to finish these cats off with the code starting at 80% (it reduces when triggered). The Clawing damage looks like it will now also affect defensive buffs… So with Leonie, that’s 400% instead of 250% damage for enemies with a defensive buff. And they receive -35% defense for 6 turns. If I’m reading it correctly, her Special will now act to reverse a defensive buff. Pretty handy.

Leonie

  • Max Clawing damage increased: 375% → 400%
  • Clawing damage defense reduction buffed: -30% → -35%
  • Stats increased:
    • Attack: 1308 → 1351
    • Defense: 1100 → 1143
    • Health: 1996 → 2119

Rajesh

  • Direct Mana boost from the Hero’s effects increased
    • Mana per cleansed ailment: 5% → 10%
    • Mana per bypassed defensive buff: 10% → 15%
    • Mana per resisted negative mana effect: 15% → 20%
  • Attack stack increased: +30% → +35% per stack
  • Stats increased:
    • Attack: 1279 → 1320
    • Defense: 1137 → 1180
    • Health: 1998 → 2121

Mechanic updates

  • Minions and Mega Minions no longer deal elemental Weak or Strong damage, unless specified.

Fixes

  • “Lithe Frame” Trait updated to also resist status effects affecting defense against specific Elements

Release notes were obtained and can be found at the Empires & Puzzles Forum.

Empires & Puzzles Mega Minion June Update: The Sequel

My final thoughts:

This update focused on Mega Minions. We’ve had new Heroes and new Passives of late, all slowly impacting the Mega Minion, but so far, they’ve prevailed.

Will this update make a difference to you when facing or fielding Mega Minions?

I’ve had a quick look at the World Leader Board, and at the moment, it seems a bunch of Mega Minion Heroes have been subbed out to warm the bench.

  1. This sucks, have Pepperbleu fully broken, leveled, and skills maxed. Also have Dima, Kolya, and 3 Gregs. Love the zero manna hits. 5 garrison guard troops, at least 5 hits per turn. Bummer.

    1. Hey Grape, Pepper summons a Mega Fiend, not a Mega Minion and they are not affected at all with this update.

  2. Hey OC,
In my opinion the Mega Minion meta was slowly dying on it’s own as Luna,Telluria,Hippo and the rest of the super meta heroes in their days were dying out in a ‘normal pace’ anyway. I personally think this update was unnecessary.
Rosalind already died out as main tank a while back and Fergus was slowly dying out as well. The rest of the MM summoners were not really a threat on their own anyway.
Yet interestingly we still don’t have any viable counter for Bernie, a year old hero. (Fergus was released 6 months later than her!)
So I would’ve rather adjust that. But that’s just my two cents… 🙂

    1. Thanks, Proximate. This update has sped things along. Looking at the Leaderboard and it seems to have relegated MMs to the bench. That said, they’re still strong, especially if you don’t have a counter or top heroes to deal with them. Thanks again, Proximate!

  3. I can’t say I’m bothered as I have many mega minions. I can easily field a mega minion team, and have some left. So personally I hope they don’t die out. I think they might become less relevant over time, and something bigger will take their place. For now, imo, things will remain the same. More or less.

  4. Personally I don’t even understand why they even bother nerfing/”balancing” heroes these days off you look at the insane avalanche of new heroes released in EVERY portal… Hell, even just a few months old heroes have to be second guessed if they are worth to even be considered to be leveled up.

Will be interesting to see if there will be any quick changes, I’m playing in Naughty Nightmares 1 hanging around in the top #20 global and there are plenty of teams/players with the usual Bernadette/Fergus and totals up to 3-4MM on an average 3200 trophy team so if there will be a quick change it will start from the top.
    Guess time will tell 😊
