We’d all like to learn the secrets of life, and while I can’t lay claim to Enlightenment, just like Indiana Jones, I too have sought out the Holy Grail.
But it’s not for me to say what’s found deep inside the chambers of the Temple, however, I will share…
…It’s the same Truth which is hidden within all the holy books, the same story told in many movies, the same poem sang in many songs.
It’s a secret so powerful, they hid it from the world.
And what is the nature of this secret?
The redemptive powers of re-birth.
However, my dear friends, there is such a Creature which seeks to stop the Phoenix from rising…
…which seeks to bind its wings and to tie it down…
…keeping it from glory, keeping it from soaring across the heavens…
And that Creature, from now, may be known as Kravekrush, -the living nightmare, the trapper of souls, and the comforter to those lost to the murky abyss.

Element: Fire (Red)
Mana Speed: Average
Family Bonus (for 1/2/3/4/5 Underwild Heroes): Between 25% to 45% chance to spawn an Underwild Gem on the board when this hero casts Special Skill. The Underwild Gem deals 50 damage to a random enemy each turn.

Talent: WOUND ~ +30% chance to apply bleeding from any normal attack.
Is Kravekrush worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)
Kravekrush is currently the only one of his kind in Empires and Puzzles. The only hero who can stop dead souls from returning to their avatars.
He stands opposed to Mother North in Special, Passive, and Element.
Kravekrush’s Special Skills (Old Cynic Review)
Taking a serious eye to Kravekrush, it’s obvious what his purpose is (anti-Reviver).
And while that’s great and fantastic, it’s also very situational.
And he’s not even playing around; stopping re-births for a long 5 turns. -He also blocks resurrections from Status Effects.
Then, soon as he’s done, he gets to slapping back and forth, the faces of three enemies.
Now, before I get into comparisons, let me explain, I didn’t intend to write a review today. I didn’t even know Kravekrush was being released.
However, he was simply too significant to ignore.
Anyway, my last review was for Zagrog, the March HotM. And as soon as I saw Kravekrush, I thought of Zagrog.
Because they both hit for the same amount: 430% to the target and minor damage to nearby enemies.
This is important because it really highlights the value of the secondary. While Zagrog breaches defenses, Kravekrush directly impedes some of the most powerful heroes in Empires and Puzzles.
Onto the table…
How Good is Kravekrush? (Empires and Puzzles)
This is the same table used in the Zagrog review.
|Kravekrush||Average (10 tiles)||Deals 430% damage to target and Minor to NB||All enemies can’t revive their allies or themselves for 5 turns. All enemies can’t receive status effects that would resurrect them for 5 turns.|
|Zagrog||Average (10 tiles)||Deals 430% damage to target and Minor to NB||The attack will bypass defensive buffs including counterattack. The caster gains 20% mana if any defensive buffs were bypassed.|
|Cobalt||Ninja-2 (10 tiles)||Deals 360% damage to target and NB||Attack has a 85% chance to bypass defensive buffs including counterattack.|
|Iris||Fast (8 tiles)||Deals 325% damage to target and Minor to NB||Dispels buffs from the target and NB at the end of each turn for 3 turns. Deals extra damage to Fire.|
|Richard||Average (10 tiles)||Deals 435% damage to target and Minor to NB||Target and NB get -34% attack for 4 turns.|
|Thorne||Average (10 tiles)||Deals 490% damage to target and Minor to NB||Flexes his cosy Faux Fur winter cloak.|
|Master Lepus||Fast (8 tiles)||Deals 410% damage to target and Minor to NB||-20% defense to himself, D’oh.|
|Devana||Average (10 tiles)||Deals 250% damage to target and NB||yes.|
Now, you might be super excited at the prospect of introducing your brand spanking new Kravekrush to Mother North, -next time you happen to see her across the battlefield.
But, that brings us onto Kravekrush’s main weakness; he’s nothing without his polar opposite;
- without the Good, to his Bad
- the Light, to his Dark
- the Reviver, to his Block
Without the opposite force with which to wrestle, he can not reach his full potential…
He would be destined to drift, as a big slapper, in the never ending sea of forgetfulness.
Kravekrush’s Mana Passive
Kravekrush only has one Passive skill, and it represents another piece of collusion against those who would breathe new life into empty shells:
- Passive: This Hero receives 20% mana at the start of the battle.
This means, all things being equal, he’ll reach the Crossroads before the Revivers.
And once there, he’ll lie in wait, foaming at the mouth, in anticipation of sending them back from whence they came.
Kravekrush Review – Empires and Puzzles
My final thoughts:
Kravekrush is a fantastic hero for dealing with Revivers.
In fact, he should manage them so well, that his worth might go unnoticed; -as you get used to neutering Mother North on the regular.
However, without Revivers to shackle, he’s just another hitter in the same league as Richard or Thorne (albeit, with better Stats).
And as a result, he’s just not ideal for plug-in-and-play situations (like leaving him on a permanent Raid team for example), however, lower level players may be fine, doing just that.
Here’s the thing, Revivers win lots of games. They’re super-strong heroes, and having Kravekrush on your team/roster should make dealing with them, a breeze.
Kravekrush must now be a favourite for 6th man of the year, coming off the bench as/when is needed, to lay the smack down.
As for grading, I’m balancing the two:
- His usefulness against the Revivers Vs.
- His usefulness against normal heroes…
Hero Grade for Kravekrush (Empires and Puzzles)
So for my grading, the question is:
Is this hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle? No.
If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities? Yes.
Old Cynic’s Hero Grade: Archangel
