Khepri Review, Empires and Puzzles (Season 5)

Khepri is due to emerge from Empires and Puzzles Season 5 (Dynasty of Dunes) portal, any time now. But I couldn’t wait to compare this fiend monster with Elizabeth, to find out who’s better.
Don’t forget, this guy’s still in Beta and so subject to change. Also, he may not appear in the first wave.
Before we start, please consider sharing a link to this post with your Alliance or on social media. It really does help.
Caveat: This post contains game-play speculation and personal opinion. It may also contain adult comedy and sarcasm. It is not advice and is solely for entertainment, and informational, purposes.
Khepri‘s Stats and Special Skills (Legendary Hero)

How Good is Khepri? (Empires and Puzzles)
As soon as I saw Khepri, I wanted to measure him up, back to back, with Elizabeth.
I know Lizzie hits all enemies, while he only targets 3, but both are Average, and she’s who immediately came to mind.
Khepri has a great build, and is like this low-key powerhouse, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, let’s get Lizzie up (may as well call in Hannah, too):
Hero | Mana Speed | Strike | Fiend Affliction | Fiend Damage | Healing Absorbed by Fiend |
Khepri | Average (10 tiles) | Deals 275% damage to the target and nearby | N/a – Fiend explodes after 3 turns dealing 300 damage to target and minor to nearby | 38% | 30% |
Elizabeth | Average (10 tiles) | Deals 175% damage to all | -24% mana generation | 43% | 28% |
Hannah | Fast (8 tiles) | Deals 215% damage to the target and nearby | -20% attack | 43% | 20% |
On the face of it, Khepri actually looks reasonably balanced. I mean, 275% to 3 targets will sting, but you won’t need an ambulance.
As for the fiends, as you can see, they actually do less damage than Elizabeth’s fiends. -And, they don’t absorb much more healing either.
And, the Exploding Fiend Damage?
😜
I confess! He’s a monster! A monster!
This is a whammy, assuming he stays this way.
-These exploding fiends could inflict a further 1800 damage!
Here’s the key wording:
- ‘…dealing 300 damage to the target and minor to nearby…’
So, that’s another 150 damage to nearby enemies.
That means, if you target the Tank and Flanks with his Special, settling a tubby timebomb into their laps, and they fail to remove them in 3 turns, here’s what happens:
Wing | Flank | Tank | Flank | Wing | |
150 | 300 | 150 | |||
150 | 300 | 150 | |||
150 | 300 | 150 | |||
Total | 150 | 450 | 600 | 450 | 150 |
And, that’s not including the 275% damage he’s already dealt, or the 3 hits the fiends would’ve taken in the build up (38% each).
I’m telling you, these fiends don’t make good pets.
For those interested, I managed to get some early footage of Khepri’s Special:

Is Khepri worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)
Yes, Khepri is one of the most aggressive fiend summoners we’ve seen.
His fiends are gonna add a real sense of urgency to proceedings, and I think it’s great.
Before we get to the rest of his build, let’s compare him with a full field:
Hero | Mana Speed | Damage/Other | Fiend Damage | Healing Absorbed by Fiend |
Khepri | Average (10 tiles) | 275% damage to Target & NB + possibility of up to 1800 explosion damage | 38% | 30% |
Zhuge Liang | Slow (12 tiles) | Zero damage to all enemies + Summons counterattack Minions | 65% | 50% |
Lu Bu | Slow (12 tiles) | 295% to all enemies Fiend stops target from getting new buffs | 48% | 32% |
Viscaro | Slow (12 tiles) | 190% to all enemies | 60% | 45% |
Elizabeth | Average (10 tiles) | 175% to all enemies + Fiend gives -24% mana generation for life of Fiend | 43% | 28% |
Motega Tier-2 | Slow (12.5 tiles) | Zero damage to all enemies + Fiend gives -50% accuracy for life of Fiend | 43% | 50% |
Senan | Slow (12 tiles) | 275% to all enemies | 45% | 30% |
Hannah | Fast (8 tiles) | 215% to Target & NB + Fiend gives -20% attack for life of Fiend | 43% | 20% |
Khepri looks strong in this company. And at Average, he may be firing off more than once.
But, there’s even more going on here. -Khepri’s got some extra tricks I wanna show you.
Close your eyes…

Did anyone actually close their eyes? If so, why?
Khepri‘s Passive Skills (Empires and Puzzles)
Passive Skills are becoming more and more prominent of late, and the trend continues with all the new Season 5 heroes.
Khepri benefits from 2 really nice additional skills, -a 60% chance of…
- Dealing 70% damage to all enemies, and
- inflicting -24% mana generation for 3 turns (to all enemies).
That -24% mana generation is massive, for a passive.
And, a 60% chance? Those are fantastic odds.
And what about that additional 70% damage… On top of the 275% he already does, and the fiends slapping, and the explosions?
Wing | Flank | Tank | Flank | Wing |
275% | 275% | 275% | ||
38% x 3 | 38% x 3 | 38% x 3 | ||
150 | 450 | 600 | 450 | 150 |
70% | 70% | 70% | 70% | 70% |
…all that damage, and he’s Ranger Class (chance to bypass defensive buffs).
Oh, plus he’s got a cool family bonus:
- Moon Family 1/2: 1. 10%/20% chance to cast -24% defense for 2 turns and 98 Water damage over 2 turns on an enemy who deals Special damage to this hero . 2. If enemy Special defeats this hero, chance increases to 50%/75%.
So even in death, he adds value to his team, possibly inflicting -24% defense and more damage on his departure.
Khepri Review (Empires and Puzzles)
My final thoughts:
We’ve got a lot of new heroes to look forward to with Season 5, but I had to satisfy my curiosity with Khepri.
His fiends are gonna be trouble, and he’ll have you crossing your fingers, hoping his Passives don’t go off.
All the while, Esme’s been waiting in the wings, hoping her day would come, praying for just one moment to count…
… it’s here… it’s here.
Hero Grade for Khepri (Empires and Puzzles)
So for my grading, the question is:
Is this hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle? Yes.
If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities? N/a.
