Immortal Ossifer Review: Gems of War

Immortal Ossifer Troop Card - Gems of War

Immortal Ossifer demands a spot on every Gems of War team I make. He does take a long time to charge, but it’s worth the wait.

When fully charged, Immortal Ossifer will convert all Gems of a chosen colour into Doomskulls (5 damage), and the results are normally game-changing.

The beauty is that when used optimally, he’ll always leave you with an extra turn to make the most of the Doomskulls left scattered across the board.

How Does Immortal Ossifer Work? (Players Guide)

I’m still using the ‘fresh out the box’ unlevelled version of Immortal Ossifer, but that’s still enough to make him a pivotal part of the team.

Ossifer’s primary spell lets you convert a chosen Gem colour on the board into Doomskulls.

Unleavelled, he then deals 8 true damage to all Enemies.

If used in Ancient Khet, he’ll deal double the damage.

Here’s a screenshot of a board before Mr Ossifer’s sleight of hand:

Note the two black Gems at the top-centre of the image, sitting beside two Skulls.

And then the other two black Gems just below the two Skulls.

Once converted, all the black Gems on the board will become Doomskulls, and that particular section will trigger an extra turn.

Like so:

I always try to fire Ossifer’s spell when I can earn an extra turn, a prerequisite that is easy enough to meet most of the time.

Why?

Because after the initial explosions, there’s typically more easy-match Skull damage to be had, and I don’t want to leave that to the enemy.

Immortal Ossifer Review: Gems of War

My final thoughts:

Gems of War is such an involved game that even with over 60 hours on the books, I’m still only scratching the surface.

The game actually gets better the more you play as you start to understand what’s important and where to invest your time.

I hope to share more helpful information as I discover it.

Immortal Ossifer has definitely boosted my progression; because of him, I feel like I can punch well above my weight.

If you have Immortal Ossifer, I’d love to hear your thoughts on his overall value. Especially later in the game.
