Hurricane: Jungle Hunter Family (Empires & Puzzles)

Hurricane Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Hurricane is the latest Jungle Hunter to stroll outta the Empires and Puzzles Covenant Portal, and he clearly has no shame! He does more damage than processed Sugar, yet here he is, brazenly walking about like no one’s gonna notice.

We all see you Hurricane; this ain’t Pro Wrestling!

I know I’ve missed a few, but I’m back! Lightweight Baby! Let’s go!

I turned my back for a second, and this heavy-handed, Next-Gen-looking, horse-meat eating monster showed up. I was like, “Oh, Hell no!”.

Checked my wristwatch to see if I could squeeze in a quick 4-hour writing session. And you know what? Yes, sir. It’s that time again. Are you hyped?

I’m feeling hyped, man! Got more Exclamation Marks in this opening segment than I normally allow for the entire piece… go on, ! Yeah! YEAH!!! YEAH!!!!!

Coffee.

~That’s the only substance running through my veins… although, allegedly, Hurricane can’t say the same.

Hurricane and the Big Balance Update (Empires and Puzzles)

If you didn’t know, there’s a Big Balance Update going on in the background at Empires and Puzzles, and you can read my initial take on it here.

And I must admit, my first thought this morning, on seeing Hurricane, was that he was created and released as if the Big Balance Update had already happened.

That’s just how I processed the incredible strength he possesses. Just look at the numbers:

Atk: 889 Def: 828 HP: 1479

And in his Special, he does 410% damage to the target and nearby enemies.

…those two facts alone make him a monster.

That said, I don’t know if they’ll change Hurricane again as part of the Big Balance Update. Truth is, everything is still up in the air, as far as I can tell.

But as things stand, in today’s world, Hurricane is a god walking among us.

Here’s a short list of some other elite hitters:

Hurricane the Inflictor (Empires and Puzzles)

I think the table above speaks for itself.

It is evidently clear that Hurricane is more powerful than those that came before him.

But more than that, Hurricane looks like a superior class of Hero. -Now, I wouldn’t say “6-Star”, but to push heavily in these 3 areas is significant:

  • Incredibly progressive Power Stats
  • Most likely the hardest-hitting unqualified 3-hitter we’ve seen in E&P (pound for pound)
  • Inflicts top-end burn damage

For me, the Headline Damage (410%) isn’t the shocker. It’s the follow-up 904 Burn damage over 4 turns.

I mean, D’Artagnan only inflicts 1023 Burn damage to his target, over 3 turns.

That’s a lot of concentrated damage spread over 4 turns. I know because I rely on old C. Roc’s 764 fully-Emblmed and Limit Broken Sand damage.

And as can be seen from Hurricane’s Portal preview, at “Max Power” (fully Emblemed and double LB), his Burn damage will increase to 1228 over 4 turns.

Heroes like Hurricane have the potential of making Narcisa and Matilda (Fiends increase damage from Ailments by 50%) completely devastating.

And he can find easy synergy with other Ailment casters, too (*his reset).

All the while making the current HotM feel like the last bastion of hope for all those budgeting warriors out there.

Hurricane (Empires and Puzzles)

My final thoughts:

Hurricane pushes the boat out. He punches harder than anyone I can think of (at Ave), and he inflicts DoT like a Boss.

On top of that, he possesses the one skill all hitters dream of; the ability to heal himself.

And 50% of Burn damage should get him out of many sticky situations. And that healing may be the selling point here, the feather in his cap. Because now he can influence his own durability.

On top of that, he has solid Passives, a great Family Bonus, and a powerful Stack.

When you look at Hurricane as a complete package, it’s easy to conclude he’s Overpowered.

He is certainly a dynamic step forward, but it’s into a world we don’t fully understand yet (The BBU).

But regardless of all that, I don’t have any Covenant Portal Coins, so there’s no chance of me getting this beast ’til next time round.

Hero Grade for Hurricane

So for my grading, the question is:

Is this Hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle? Yes.

If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities? N/a.

  1. Stupidly OP hero. Shame on SG. They’ll nerf him in a few months and pretend they didn’t know how overpowered he would be.

    1. Hey byzanthia, good to see you! Yep, a nerf wouldn’t be a surprise. The healing will make him super tanky. -Guess we’re all waiting on the BBU to see where everything lands.

  2. With a name like Hurricane they should have made him fast/very fast, tone down the direct damage and the dot to something reasonable like 200% and 400 over 3 turns. Decrease the stack to +5% per stack.

    1. I agree! The name does not fit the character art or the Special. This is not, “Hurricane!”.

That said, can’t believe I’ll have to use a Malosi slap on a hero who hits 3 for 410%, tho.

  3. Well…..at least they made him average mana speed…… I just don’t understand how you can make such an enormous rebalance on so many heroes we have spent good money on leveling/acquiring and then release a hero like this. It makes no sense.

I’m sure he’ll get nerfed eventually but it’s completely ridiculous to give a hero this much power. This is a slap in the face to all those players who are going to get a bunch of their heroes nerfed in the name of ‘re-balancing’ only to have this over powered num-nuts released.

    1. 😁 over powered num-nuts… Thanks True North.

It seems to be happening with lots of modern apps/games; everyone’s trying to get that reoccurring income. You can’t buy a complete game nowadays, you have to buy parts, which are then restructured to sell more parts.

I don’t mind subscriptions or expansions packs, as we see with PC/Console games, because it seems to represent a reasonable exchange to keep the game alive. But gacha games can be an expensive hobby.

  4. I don’t have Hurricane, but I faced a Croc earlier today and have learned that HP evaporates really fast once it’s fired off its skill…so Hurricane will evaporate HP even faster.

  5. Hi OC
I pulled him out of 30 summons, leveled up and limit broken. I am using him in a defense team with double formation as tank paired with Hathor. I have the resources to second limit break another hero and I think I will go with Hathor becuase I am scared by a future nerf. Behind them I have mother north Mr pengy and Malin. Not sure about the the right formation, maybe I will try a reverse one, with MN on the left and hurricane on the right wing. In the middle Hathor. What would you use on the Wings? Cheers Alex

    1. Congratulations Alex 🥳!

I use the Reverse Formation on D and think it’s the best, but probably the worst for Mother North. And I wouldn’t put her on the wing (co-Tank) there. I do have a Defense post on here and also a Facebook group (just search for “Old Cynic’s Empires and Puzzles group”) which could be useful for asking other players, but it’s best to go with binary questions.

At the moment, the Taunt Aether Power is a problem for hitters as Tank but that will be gone soon enough and that’s when I’d expect more from Hurricane there.

If anything, I’d keep the formation (Double) for now and test other options for Malin. She has good synergy with Hurricane but it’s limited, there’s no Holy Tank to invite a Dark squad, and she’s Slow with an Ave Speed Tank.

This is a quick review and as such I may be missing something! Also, please seek other opinions too.

      Thanks for reading!

      1. Thank you OC
I will probably switch back to double formation
I don’t have many options for yellow heros
I have Kara which could be inserted in a double formation then I have to find an alternative to MN
        Thanks for your opinion!!
        Cheers Alex

  6. Hello! Didn’t pull this guy, but did end up pulling Milady De Winter! So sorry for going off topic in this comment but… did you take a look at her yet? 😀

  7. Hmm, good review as always but there’s one thing about you mention but don’t really go into and that’s the seconday effect of his burn damage
