Hanitra Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Hanitra is the Empires and Puzzles December 2021 Hero Of The Month (HotM). And a lot of interest and anticipation have followed in her wake.

But as fantastic as they may be, do her skills really warrant all this praise and expectation?

Hanitra‘s Special Skills (Dancing Dodge)

Element: Holy (Yellow)

Class: Monk

Mana Speed: Fast

Special Skills (Dancing Dodge): 1. All allies gets +45% chance to dodge Special Skills for 3 turns. 2. Each dodge boosts health by 275. If the health exceeds max HP, it is added as temporary HP. 3. All allies resist max health reduction for 3 turns. 4. [Element Link] Gives +10% increase for any healing received for all Holy allies for 4 turns. This effect can’t be dispelled.

Passive: 1. Mana on Buff Received ~ This Hero recovers 5% mana when they receive a buff. 2. Skill Blocking ~ This hero has an innate resistance against status ailments that block Special Skills.

Talent: WITHSTAND ~ +30% chance to resist negative status effects.

Legends 2021 Family Bonus: 1/2/3 Heroes: +10%/+15%/+20% critical chance. Bonus for 2+ Heroes: Element Link affects all allies.

Is Hanitra worth Levelling? (Empires and Puzzles)

Yes. She’s a great hero.

However, her value to you will be based on your current roster and your playstyle.

Hanitra’s Special Explained

Hanitra has a couple of Passives which are worthy of note because they both contribute to her overall value.

First is a 5% mana boost she’ll receive with any new buff. I imagine these could rack up pretty quickly.

The second is really powerful; an innate resistance against status ailments that block Special Skills. Meaning, there’s no stopping this Fast dodger.

On to the Special itself:

Hanitra’s primary skill is Dodging, and we all know C.Kadilen is the current No.1 dodger in Empires and Puzzles.

Hanitra and C.Kadilen actually have a lot in common;

  • They’re both Fast,
  • both give all allies a +45% chance of dodging,
  • both last for 3 turns,
  • and both provide HP for each time an ally dodges (Hanitra = 275 HP C.Kadilen = pseudo 246 HP Minion)

C.Kadilen also hits all enemies for 170% damage, while Hanitra goes on to protect all allies from reductions in max-health.

But who’s going to reduce your max-health? Alfrike is the obvious suspect -although, it’s pretty rare to face her in the wild.

It seems C.Kadilen’s strike is much more valuable than Hanitra’s additional protection.

Hanitra and the touchy subject of Healing

Hanitra is here for one reason; Dodging for the masses.

But I still have to evaluate the standard of her healing, and it’s really not substantial at all.

Firstly, none of it is guaranteed. It’s just a bonus for dodging.

The 275 HP per miss is OK, but maybe 350 HP would’ve been more reasonable, given she doesn’t do anything else.

I guess the healing, and the total value of this hero comes down to that 45% dodge rate. She’ll be amazing in some battles, and meh in others.

As it stands, unless you are completely reckless when facing her, Hanitra won’t do enough healing to be considered consequential.

Hanitra Compared to C.Kadilen, Margaret, & Inari

Dodging is a valuable skill, but is Hanitra better than Costumed Kadilen, Margaret, or even the recently buffed, Inari?

Hanitra compared with Costume Kadilen, Margaret, and Inari

In my tests, C.Kadilen creates a Minion worth 246 HP, which is lower than the healing Hanitra provides. And when Hanitra’s Family Bonus comes online, it might be worth an additional 10%.

As for Margaret, she only affects Nearby allies, -although, she is quicker than the rest at V.Fast.

Inari, is an Average speed dodger who like Margaret, received a buff to make her more appealing. Her dodge chance is higher at +56%, and her Minion, a heavier slapper at 30% Att.

Finally, we have Jade, who like Margaret, only buffs herself and nearby allies at an Average speed. However, at Ninja x3 (which is 15 tiles), Jade will cast a 75% chance of dodge for the entire team.

Here’s how I rank them:

  1. C.Kadilen (I like her damage, and with Defense-down, even a little can contribute to destruction)
  2. Hanitra (She’s quick, affects all, and heals/Over-heals)
  3. Inari (10 tiles can be a long time in E&P. But she covers the entire team, nice damage, and nice Minion)
  4. Jade (Speed is key in my world, and Jade doesn’t get stuck in until Ninja x2, and then it’s only for herself and NB. I’m taking a team-wide dodge over a 3-parter)
  5. Margaret (Loved her with the old/new/nerfed formation options. She’s super quick, does some damage, and still has a place in the ecosystem)

My final thoughts:

For me, it all boils down to the Dodge skill itself.

How many players have C.Kadilen?

Here we have a HotM who replicates C.Kadilen’s main skill, and does it at the same speed!

Yes, she’s missing something, -like a slap for all enemies, or some upfront healing, but beggars and choosers are two different things.

I happen to think, Hanitra might end up feeling like an ineffective hero -who doesn’t really do anything. Because, despite what you might say, you feel C.Kadilen’s shunt. Whereas, Hanitra has nothing at all.

All that said, like anything in Empires and Puzzles, if your heroes have a synergy with Hanitra, she’ll have more good days, than bad.

Overall, she should be frustrating to face, and while she won’t win any battles by herself, paired with another defensive irritation (Freya/Bera/C.Kadilen/Xnolphod/Garnet), she could look fantastic.

Hanitra’s a great hero for players who would otherwise, find it difficult to get hold of C.Kadilen.

But she won’t change your fortunes by herself, she’s not that type of hero.

Hero Grade for Hanitra (Empires and Puzzles)

As for grading, here’s my thinking. Hanitra’s basically C.Kadilen, without the initial attack.

Remember, Inari and Margaret received a buff because they were lacking in this area, too.

As a result, on a Defense Team consisting of say:

Morel | Frigg | C.Kadilen | Odin | Who(m)ever

Hanitra couldn’t take C.Kadilen’s place and also benefit from all the Defense-down going on.

Conversely, she doesn’t produce enough healing to be of any use there either.

She’s a toothless dog, a string-less guitar, a plastic-less recycling plant.

But what she does have, is a powerful skill. One which may even defend against the almighty Ruby.

So for my grading, the question is:

Is this hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle? No.

If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities? Yes.

  1. I really hate dodge. It’s such an overpowered buff. I’ve lost countless fights because C. Kadilen went off and then you just seen 20x DODGE on your screen for the next 3 turns.

    It’s stupid, it’s cheezy. In Puzzle Combat (SG’s other game) they have it as well but there are anti-dodge specials as well that prevent any dodging. Hopefully they will add that here. I’m sure they will actually. Introduce a problem (e.g. fiends, dodge) then sell you a solution a few months later (anti-fiends, anti-dodge).

    I like her because, as you have written, she can defend the Deities. She doesn’t hurt opponents, but helps your team to stay alive.

    Better in attack teams than in defense ones, where i prefer c-Kad (but i don’t have her 🙁 ).

    I think that Hanitra’s magic is hidden in her passive, gaining 5% mana when she receives a buff. After going off for the first time she becomes essentially very fast. That is because she gets 3 buffs from her skill, so she just needs a 29lvl mana troop or 17lvl mana troop and her mana talent to recharge with 6 tiles. Adding another hero who can buff her and she can act as very fast in her first charge.

  4. Margaret’s text and ability have been updated to “+24% mana on dodge” from “moderate amount of mana.” Her link also provides +46% elemental defense against fire for 4 turns, which is useful when paired with another 2019 family member.

    Costume Little John also has the same ability, but caps at 70% compared to Margaret’s 90%.

    I’m a little disappointed that there’s a somewhat tepid response to Hanitra. I managed to get her on my 6th EHT summon in this Xmas event, so I maxed her and gave her +12 emblems, which is all I have left. I have no cKad, Inari or Jade, and I figured her family bonus will kick in when January arrives. Managed to squeeze her into my war defense this morning, so we’ll see how that goes.
    I’ve always found the dodge heroes very annoying and can’t wait to try her out on offense.

      1. I started to feel a little disappointed with her until I stumbled into a CGrave/Morel/Ludwig/CKad/Odin lineup… constant AOE with constant mana-fill ups courtesy of Ludwig, my attacking team dodged and healed like crazy. I’ll definitely use her against those aoe-heavy defenses.

  6. i dunno if i have a space for her or not? I have several dodgers I never leveled up. Margaret and inari both havent climbed to use ascentions mats status for me. but im finishing up a new team for the war lineup. it has blue and yellow still up for grabs (the middle will be Ludwig, Ruby, and Quenell.)
    That team could use healing at higher speeds…which when the dodge works she will give, on paper anyway,
    Or I just level the yellow ninja finally and use the defense and shared damage as pseudo health…
    just gotta decide what shes worth? And what blue to drop in (have both costume loki and Ariel leveled up…either could be an avg speed heal on offense…)

    choices in this game can be demanding…especially since a wrong choice eats a years worth of ascension mats,

  7. She’s a beast.

    Don’t just focus on the damage while comparing to Kadilen, her problem is her passive and buffs.

    First: the healing. With maximum leveled healing – mana troop, there will be an additional of a bonus of 20% extra healing, which means each hero will receive 275 x 120%, quick equals to 350 HP in total. The amount of HP your guys gain will be even more if you get a 2% bonus healing from their talent

    The second thing is her next buff, which definitely a key to fight Afrike

    And the last thing, her passive which gives her 5% mana from each buff she received. So whenever she casts her special, she immediately gets 15% of her mana, which make her only need 6 tiles to cast another special.

    Love your blog. I am looking for advice on who to level next. I have Hanitra, Devana, Joon, Justice, and Leonidas (no costumes for at all) available to join my mono attack team. I have Wolfgang, cVivica, Uraeus as 5 stars and Guardian Jackal and Mist as 4 stars. I am in the process of levelling a rainbow set of mana troops to 17. I am looking to replace the 4 star heroes but am also trying to maintain as much as possible the synergy of DD, EDD, attack up, mana control, attack down and defense up in that order where possible. I don’t mind 1 slow hero. on offence as I feel running mono helps slow hero to charge more quickly than any other team composition. I have the darts for 1 hero right now but am anticipating replacement of the 4 stars. Despite not minding 1 slow on my mono attack team I am thinking of replacing Guardian Jackal with Devana (I like having a dispeller even if its hit 3) and Mist with Hanitra unless I get Leonidas costume. I know this somewhat erodes the synergy but willing like the dodge on top of DD from cVivica and hesl from Wolfgang will make it hard to take this team down. Could I please get your opinion please? Thanks for all your hard work!

      First the usual caveats: Not advice, do what’s best for your roster, just chewing the fat, etc. etc.

      I like your thinking re. Devana, I was thinking the same thing. -It might be nice to have her dispel before Wolfgang gets to slapping.

      Hanitra would be the defensive option; a coveted Skill which would really help on Defense I suspect, and that extra healing (maybe Over-Healing)…

      But Devana is a personal favourite of mine. Her Minion is ridiculous, her Mana boost is nice; she’s just a great all rounder.

      That said, Mats are valuable so it’s hard to draw a clear distinction between the two, as both are strong.

      If it were me, in the situation you describe, I’d go Devana -and the reason is Wolfgang -he already adds addition healing to Vivica, and removing Counterattack or other buffs could really help.

      Still, still, continue to ask about, because it’s a close call and I don’t want you to be upset! 🙂

  10. Hey there, just pulled hanitra(very few 5stars I have, and I wanted mother north). So should I upgrade her? She doesn’t do any damage in her special. As I’m new and almost f2p(just the vip pass n mini purchases) so I don’t have resources for final ascension so I need to use them wisely. Please help!!!!

      In answer to your question, all the normal caveats aside (your choice, not advice, no guarantees, etc.), I would upgrade her. Especially if I didn’t have many other 5-Star heroes.

      I’ve been playing awhile and after pulling her recently, I’m really impressed. She’s already in my Raid squad, before final ascension. She’s awesome. I play her with Rigard (2nd healer) and it works a treat.

      She’s improved my win rate by a long way. She is a modern hero, designed to deal with these modern monsters.

    I had a lucky Christmas and got Hinatra and Costume Krampus, and was wondering about your thoughts on their potential synergy.
    Imagine C/Krampus with taunt, his rogue talent that already gives him 20% chance to dodge. Does that add up to 65% with Hinatras special?
    In which case the only guy they can hit almost can’t be hit himself…
    With her anti health reduction she’ll also protect him from one of his main foes, Alfrike, since she blasts all 5 cubes of death straight in his eye because of his taunting mannerisms.
    Last thing; since she makes allies dodge, does that also mean that they won’t get that 20% attack boost from Krampus special if they do dodge?

    1. Hey Vagas, that’s an interesting question. I went to the forum for an answer but it’s not clear.

      The suggestion is that it would stack, but I don’t think that’s the case, because surely it would be OP -but who knows, maybe you’re onto something. I think it would be hard to quantify without testing -that’s my answer!

      Anyway, congrats on the pulls, I think Hanitra works well as a fallback option; she’s Fast and gets to helping out asap.
