Empires & Puzzles: The Great Reset, Week III

Empires and Puzzles - The Great Resetting 3 Pinterest Pin

I’m not making much headway with my new E&P account; I need a 5-Star like Kirk needed Spock.

Like David Banner needed a ride. [YouTube]Dom, dom, dom-dom.

Somebody stop, man! Why won’t nobody stop?

Give me a decent Hero, Devs. Hook me up already, ~show me some nepotism, damn it!

Got me running around here with Bane looking like my mum don’t make me lunch.

(Don’t worry ’bout it kids, dream big. That was me, too. It’s us against the world.)

And please stop with the Silver Tokens; no one wants that. It’s unwanted advice. I want a five-star-HERO!!!

… You think I don’t know what nepotism means, right?

Well, joke’s on you. It means you get given a position of power and influence, but you have to sometimes play in the G-League so no one questions it.

Told you!

Alright, enough jokes.

You people just want the lols, but there’s more to life, you know?

Here’s a serious question…

Why was there such a disconnect between Bon Jovi’s songs and their videos? Especially in the 80s? [YouTube]

Bon Jovi’s underrated, man.

“Oh-Oh-OH!”.

This ain’t YouTube; I can’t tax music without risking a proper slap.

Stacking is pivotal to making progress early in the game. It’s a fundamental truth. As it happens, I have a detailed guide about it here.

How Is It Going in Week 3? (E&P Rebirth)

A picture speaks a thousand words:

Empires and Puzzles - My Raid Team

That is the total value of my new Empires & Puzzles account after 3 (maybe 4) weeks of play.

I picked up 3 Zarolas last week but only levelled one.

These Heroes are not cutting it! Grinding levels is my only option. (I could get my wallet out, but I’m testing F2P for the moment).

Progress is going to have to happen over three stages:

  1. Auto-complete levels to level up some of these layabouts
  2. Then, start completing EVENT Quests so I can spin at some Portals
  3. Finally, hope to land some decent Heroes and then start levelling them!

I am tempted to level Morris because his disappearing act and mana stop can be utilized down here.

Another thing that’s useful down here: The Forge.

Crafting Battle Items could help you clear an extra Quest level to get more rewards:

My Early Game Feedback To The Devs

My final thoughts:

I figure I should end this with some feedback for the Devs regarding the Early Game experience.

However, it’s not the same as a brand new player because I’ve already established some expectations having played before.

The game is still very good and compelling, coming in. ~Still one of the best on mobile. That said, it feels pretty pay-to-play within a week or so when you realise/feel like you’re not gonna get any Heroes without cash.

It’s challenging to get on your feet and complete a few Quest levels.

Of course, some will be lucky at the Portal; however, others won’t be. At the end of the day, just one 5-Star Hero would greatly improve the situation and give a newbie something to focus on (and not a base-Season 1, and no, not Meta either).

There’s a gap between the early game and being useful to an Alliance. I suspect players are lost in the gap.

You could upgrade the Token rewarded for reaching a new account level. Instead of a Summon Token, you could reward with an Epic Hero Token.

If not for every level, then maybe for every 5 or so?

Replace Summon Token with Epic Hero Token?

I’ve played a lot of games over the years, and on mobile, E&P is still easily one of the best.

Interestingly, restarting the game has made me more enthusiastic about my old account, where I already have Legendary Troops waiting to reach their full potential.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading about my new beginnings with Empires & Puzzles. Thank you for stopping by!

  1. Great stuff as always. COMPLETELY agree on the silver hero tokens vs gold. the game would be way more accessible to new players if there were better odds at landing 4 and 5 star heroes earlier. An idea I had- A soul exchange event for lower star heroes. This would help newer players round out a decent roster in the first year.

    1. Playing it through again, that definitely looks like the answer (Epic Hero Tokens). -And the Heroes on offer, say in seasonal events, aren’t designed to be game leaders, so it won’t break the meta. A lower level Soul Exchange would be useful, especially as you end up levelling Heroes that won’t be useful later on and would happily sacrifice when the time was right.

      Thank you, Greywulf!

  2. I too tried to play without spending $$$. Retired old lady here, so the money matters. Gave up not long after running through the tutorial stuff, maybe level 11? Anyway spent $ and bought 2 different summons x10. Actually got 2 5 stars, nothing “good”. So each month I buy a x10 summon when I can. The account I started when I had a better income has some awesome 5 stars. You apparently almost get what you pay for with E&P, but $30 for 10 3 stars time after time put me out. I play daily but no longer buy, and the money to upgrade the dragons is just ridiculous–you have to buy as the items are not really available as every day special drops, I figure around $400-500 to get a 5 star dragon maxed. Out of this old lady’s league for sure.

    1. I was in a similar spot with my old account which is when I stopped spending (lots of misses- expensive misses). It’s nice to get something guaranteed from spending but the loot-box nature became frustrating. Thanks for sharing, Samantha.

      1. Sharing heroes with other players would be nice. Even if restricted in time or just alliance. And i completely agree with increasing rewards for leveling up

  3. Hello, old friend.
At what level you will unlock the Dragon stuff? For me, that was my resetting. I have some good beasts, but the lack of materials (without spending money, of course) does not help.

    1. Hello Mig-El, great to see you. The dragon stuff is there from really early on. Checking my screenshots, it’s level 10.

I won’t be visiting at all in this new account if I can help it, but it’s true, it’s like a restart. -More stuff for newbies tho!

Re the second part, thank you. I appreciate you taking the time because I would have never known and it’s important. I will be contacting them to correct the error today. Cheers.

      1. Hey, OC. Great to see your humor again, and a refreshed take on the game.
Regarding the Dragonspire section, I’m generally not a fan, it feels like a cheap knockoff to me. But, one thing you should do is collect the daily idle chests. Nothing too exciting for dragon side, but after 14 chests (7 days), you can send a “shipment” back to your main base. The rewards in that can be pretty good, actually.
So, even if you don’t do anything else in dragonville, just tapping the idle chests once per day will get you some good stuff. good luck!

  4. I love Morris!
Back in the day I used him for cleans, because that was the only thing I could do. And if you hit a target where only 1 hero is alive stopping 1 hero from gaining mana is as good as stopping all heroes from gaining mana and hitting a random target is the same as hitting the exact target you want 🙂
Of course he´s not a long term prospect, but he´s good until you have 6 full teams of heroes and probably a little longer than that.
I haven´t played mine in years of course, but he still is in my roster for the fond memories 😀

    1. 😄 This is fantastic, the eternal optimist.

“…stopping 1 hero from gaining mana is as good as stopping all heroes from gaining mana” !

You are right, though. I’ve been forced to use him and he’s becoming a star on the team. Stopping mana is as useful as when done by another hero, it’s just the digging and hiding thing that’s a bit pointless.

That’s not entirely true though, because as you will know, it keeps him out of harms way. Especially useful when facing the Titan.

      Cheers, Gargon!
