Bloons TD 6: Best Tower Defense Game On Mobile? [Full Review]

Bloons TD 6 is an outstanding Tower Defense game by Ninja Kiwi. It is available on iOS, Android/Google, and Steam.

I purchased it way back in July 2024 for £6.99 from the Apple App Store.

The best part is the CO-OP Mode, which lets you play with friends in real-time.

How to Play Bloons Tower Defense 6 (iOS, Android/Google, & Steam)

Bloons TD 6 is a Tower Defense game where your Towers are monkeys, and the Invaders are balloons.

The image below shows a monkey with a dart popping balloons as they float by:

Your Monkey Towers are levelled up with the Cash (coins) you earn from popping balloons, and the game escalates from there.

Some monkeys fire glue guns, others fly helicopters, and there’s even a Submarine Captain.

You will also have one Hero, a remarkable monkey with special abilities that offer unique strategic opportunities.

Beginners will always start with Quincy as their Hero (a good all-rounder).

Completing maps will earn you Monkey Money, which, in time, can be used to unlock the Hero of your choice:

There are 79 maps to play in Bloons TD 6.

Each map sets its own challenge and often requires thought and consideration to beat on the hardest level.

You’ll find that pinpoint precision is needed to squeeze the most Monkey Towers into the tiniest of places.

There are three difficulty settings for each map, which require you to play the map up to a certain round to win:

  • Round 40 is Easy
  • Round 60 is Medium, and
  • Round 80 is Hard

After completing the map, you will also have the option to continue onto Endless Mode to see how far you can get.

For this review, I completed the Steambed map on Hard (up to Round 80), which took a total of 19m7s.

I then continued through to the Endless Mode, adding a further 9m22s.

So playing one map to the end took 28m29s. ~That was without really trying, meaning games can stretch out for much longer.

If you decide that a game is taking too long, you can return to the Home Screen, and your game will automatically be saved for later.

Bloons TD 6 Review (Great Solo, Top-Tier CO-OP 3D Tower Defense)

Bloons TD 6 is an excellent game with depth and balance.

I have tried many Tower Defense games on mobile, and none of them compare to Bloons TD 6.

There is so much strategy involved with this game.

Each Monkey and Hero has its own strengths and weaknesses, and each playthrough provides you with a little more information about what’s good and where.

BTD6 even has an onboard Map Editor to unlock.

There’s so much to sink your teeth into as a solo player, but it’s in CO-OP Mode that you begin to reveal a whole new level of fun.

Pressing the ‘PLAY SOCIAL’ button from the main screen will take you to the multiplayer options, including TEAMS (Alliances) and FRIENDS.

While there are EVENTS and Tasks to complete, my wife and I tend to choose maps we want to play through on Endless Mode to see how far we can get.

You can also choose to play with random players from across the net or with FRIENDS you made in a TEAM.

Is Bloons TD 6 Worth It? PROS & CONS and Recommendation

BTD6 Pros and Cons.

PROS:
The best Tower Defense game I’ve played on mobile
Amazing CO-OP gameplay
Requires strategy and feels rewarding when a level is figured out
No Ads (as it’s a paid game); however, there is a shop with in-app purchases
Available on Apple Arcade

CONS:
Games can take a long time: Over 30 minutes (however, will automatically save solo games so you can return to complete them later)
As a result of lengthy game times, it doesn’t feel like a casual game
The cartoony look and theme may not be for everybody

Do I recommend Bloons Tower Defense 6?

YES!

It’s a fun, in-depth Tower Defense game that becomes next-level awesome in CO-OP Mode.
