Atlantis Rises Best 5 Heroes (Empires and Puzzles)

Atlantis Rises is the Event for the second world (Season 2) in Empires and Puzzles. It represents a chance to get hold of a bunch of powerful heroes, many of whom are still capable of competing today.

But who’s the best 5-Star Atlantis hero? Here’s my countdown of the top five…

Top 5 Atlantis Rises Heroes – Empires and Puzzles

Atlantis Rises was running when I first started my Empires and Puzzles journey, but soon enough, we were onto Season 3 (Valhalla).

But, many of these heroes have skills which are still useful today, so here’s my selection for Top 5:

#5 Mitsuko (Atlantis Rises Best Heroes)

Mitsuko Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Special Skills (Mirror of Flames): 1. Deals 245% damage to the target and nearby enemies. 2. Reduces the mana of the target and nearby enemies by 20%. 3. All allies reflect all status effects and 115% damage from enemies Ice Special Skills back to the attacker for 4 turns.

Mitsuko is a powerful mana reducer who’s still handy today.

She hits three targets for 245%, which is only 10% less than Devana, and also cuts their mana by 20%.

Mitsuko has a nice anti-Ice reflection and counterattack which should assist if she’s placed as Tank or on the Flank.

-Not a bad return for an Average mana charge.

While Mitsuko’s not a show-stopper, she is a solid addition to the team.

And, you can use her anywhere: Raids, Defense, Titans, and Stages.

#4 Poseidon (Empires and Puzzles Review)

Poseidon Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Special Skills (Ruler of the Seas): 1. Deals 450% damage to the target. 2. All allies resist new negative mana effects for 3 turns. 3. All allies resist new effects that block usage of Special Skills for 3 turns.

Poseidon was once a fan favourite, but his day was done and it was time to retire.

Still, he tried to keep a hand in, and could often be found coaching the younger stars.

Then one day, he heard his name being mentioned by the bigwigs again. Something about his talents being suited to a very specific problem…

Ruby.

Ruby was a new Ninja hero, with this crazy Special -Stripping all enemies of their mana… 100% of it.

Poseidon, now a middle-aged, pot-bellied recluse, was needed again. -Solely because he could protect against mana theft.

It was the spark he needed to sort himself out; he’s been eating right, hitting the gym, and was even recently spotted squeezing into his old spandex bodysuit.

[That said, I’m yet to find a video of an in-shape Poseidon actually protecting his team against Ruby. If you’ve done it, let us know what happened in the comments below!]

Old Cynic’s Hero Grade: Archangel

#3 Inari (Best Heroes in Atlantis Rises)

Inari Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Special Skills (Lucky Nine): 1. Deals 180% damage to all enemies. 2. All allies get +56% chance to dodge Special Skills for 3 turns. Each dodge summons a Sakura Fox Minion. 3. Sakura Fox Minion has 8% HP and 30% attack inherited from the caster. It adds 7% mana to its owner at the end of each turn.

Inari didn’t always have this skill set. Before her recent buff, she didn’t hit at all!

The buff saw her gain a 180% hit for all enemies, and it really makes a difference.

If you’re looking at Inari, you’ve got to be thinking about her Dodge, and thinking that it doesn’t compare to C.Kadiel or even Margaret.

It’s true. And the reason?

Speed.

Inari is Average, while Margaret is Very Fast and C.Kadilen is Fast.

But, what if you don’t have those heroes? Or, if you run a stacked Holy team?

-In both scenarios, Inari can do a job for you.

Let’s not forget, Dodge will protect your team from the likes of Ruby, -a skill in very high demand at the moment.

Finally, while Inari may not be the best Dodger, she’s a credible second/third option, making her one of the best heroes in Atlantis Rises.

Old Cynic’s Hero Grade: Archangel

#2 Tarlak (Empires and Puzzles Review)

Tarlak Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Special Skills (Martial Prowess): 1. All allies get +100% normal attack for 4 turns. Stacks with similar status effects up to a maximum +160% normal attack. 2. All allies regenerate 324 HP over 4 turns.

Tarlak is clearly a numbers guy.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that I was singing the praises of Bertulf, a 3-Star hero with exactly the same Skills:

Tarlak will increase normal attack by a whopping 100%, and it will stack up to 160%.

Of course, there’s nothing better than a 5-Star hero to bear the punishment of a Titan, or to challenge elite opposition.

We all know the value of this kind of Special, but it doesn’t make it any less… Special, or devastating.

Old Cynic’s Hero Grade: Deity

#1 Ariel (Atlantis Rises Review)

Ariel Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Special Skills (Divine Protection): 1. Recovers 40% health for all allies. 2. All allies get +24% mana generation for 4 turns. 3. Dispels status ailments from all allies.

For a long time, Ariel was in all the best Empires and Puzzles teams.

That’s because she does it all:

* Heals at the top end,
* Increases the mana speed of her allies, and
* Cleanses her team of ailments.

It’s the perfect bundle.

Sure, it would be great if she Cleansed first, but that’s really the only complaint you can make.

Ariel isn’t a complex hero to use or understand, she’s simply one of the best at what she does.

Even today, 2 Seasons later, people are still referring to her when discussing the premier healers in E&P.

And, while she can’t lay claim to that title anymore, she’s not too far off the mark.

Old Cynic’s Hero Grade: Warrior

Grade Revised

Honorary mention – Kageburado (Atlantis Rises)

Kageburado Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Special Skills (Break Strike): 1. Dispels buffs from the target. 2. Deals 225% damage to the target. 3. Deals 450% damage if the target has more than 50% health remaining.

While simmering down my list of the best heroes from Atlantis Rises, I kept pausing on Kageburado.

If it wasn’t for Poseidon’s sudden rise to prominence, Kagburado would’ve bagged the spot.

I love his strike, hitting a target for 225% damage, or 450% if the target has more than 50% health remaining.

But more than that, it’s the fact that he dispels buffs from the target first… and he does that at Very Fast.

In today’s game, Kageburado could prove particularly useful.

Old Cynic’s Hero Grade: Archangel

Empires and Puzzles, Atlantis Rises Best Heroes

Atlantis Rises was a weak Class, that much is true. And as a result, it’s underrepresented among the current top tier.

Yesterday, I went through the Top Defense Teams and found only 2 Atlantis heroes present!

Mitsuko was used on one occasion, and Poseidon, on two. That’s it!

But what are your thoughts? Who’s the best Atlantis hero of them all? And, who’s still useful today?

[Please always check in-game Hero Cards to confirm details and never chase Heroes]

  1. I have completed all of the Atlantis stages, both Normal and Hard, been through a couple of Atlantis Rises and I have successfully managed to avoid pulling ANY of the hero’s above!
With the latest round of Atlantis Rises I fully expect to get nothing for my efforts.

    Oh well……….

  2. did you forgot Ursena, or was it on purpose?
for me still one of the best, my personal list would be
    1. Ursena
    2. Inari (buff is great)
    3. Ariel
    4. Tarlak
    5. Poseidon

    1. Ursena’s damage is meh. I leveled her as my second purple and regret giving her ascension mats. She’s good against titans and aether bosses, but that’s about it. Her damage is mediocre and she has simply been outclassed by more recent heroes.

      1. I never drew Ursena or Poseidon despite playing for most of the life of this game. I will say Ursena was one of the most impressive visual specials when she was released. And she had her 6 months or so as the Tank of all tanks. Till she was replaced by the next big thing. I do have Ariel, and her costume makes perfect sense. When looking at pure healers on their 1st or 2nd level firing (which leaves off Garnet ninja at 3x to be a little fair), Arioel was often rated as the best pure healer. She was fast, she buffed teammates in a very important way (high mana boost), and she even brought very stout defense as a potential tank.

NOW, she overheals too! It was a fair and appropriate buff up. She now fits with the modern heroes and is threatening again. Even Papi Poseidon has improved enough to be more macho (And he was already really macho) in the modern game.

I doubt Ill talk myself into spending on atlanteans (I really only would use costume Ariel or Poseidon, have or dont need the others?). Just wont pay even if I do score the others. But Costume Ariel and Dad are almost worth it even for me.

  3. Great list! I’ve been playing E&P since the beginning and have managed to pull every s2 hero except for Tarlak and Inari. I have 2 maxed Ariel and no regrets.

  4. Hi!

I have Kage, and his ability to dispel before hitting is very useful. Then, he’s Very Fast, so can often attack before the enemies.

For the same reason i like Ametrine a lot! But that’s OT 😉

  5. Great post.
I find Mitsuko more of an offensive hero. She was great eliminating Finley, when he was in every defence. When the fiercing cobalt took Finle’s place she became less attractive, but now with Milena, bobo, Theobald and other heavy blue hitters around she is relevant again.

Poseidon sat on my bench for ages but when alfrike was interduced he got his place back.

Don’t think inari would be relevant in couple of weeks when hanitra will be available. A fast yellow Dodger.

  6. Hope you were able to get C-Ariel! I never had Ariel in my 2 years of playing but I managed to pull C-Ariel after looting the hell outta s2 hard!

In your post above, regular Ariel was no longer held claim to premier healer. What do you think of C-Ariel? Boosts health and is faster than Heimdall and Prof Lid. Would C-Ariel be considered a premier healer again? I just LB her and she’s ughmazing especially in autofarming s4 and hard stages on any season!

    1. Welcome Dez! Yes, her costume is immense -it’s a great update for her and puts her back in the mix.

The Cleanse is in the same spot and the Card is ugly, but she does so much, so well. And as you say, Over-healing now.

If I had her, I’d deffo LB her too. Congrats -and thanks for reading and visiting!

  7. Buenas caballero,qué opinas de zimkitha,la he sacado en la academia,y no sé si meterle rompelimites, gracias y un abrazo

Translated: Good gentleman, what do you think of zimkitha, I took it out at the academy, and I don’t know whether to put limits on it, thanks and a hug

    1. Hola Dergoden, personalmente no LB Zimkitha.

Translated: Hi Dergoden, I personally wouldn’t LB Zimkitha. I can see why people would like her -her Dispel and Speed (Fast) are both great. But I don’t think she’s strong enough to justify LB’ing.

If you don’t have another Dispeller and she’s already in your Raid/Defense team, then keep her there, but I’d keep the mats for someone else.

      ~Just my personal opinion.

      1. Mil gracias,tu opinión me basta para no hacerlo,Los guardaré

Translated: Thank you very much, your opinion is enough for me not to do it, I will keep them

  8. Great list Mr.Cynic, i totally get how youre thinking, and from experience i agree.
The only one i dont really care for is Mitsuko, but that is mostly from that i dont have her, and havent ever had any problem dealing with her even with blue monoteams.
She probably shine in offensive setups and thats where i havent experienced playing her.

I managed to singlepull a Ariel-C last AR, and atm its the most exciting addition i had in months.
Overheal and the rare moderate manaregen makes her a superstar in the blue fleet
Second blue squad is now Ariel-C, Frosth, Pengi, Athena, Frida and its a killer. troops are mana, mana, ninja, mana, mana and frost kickstarts everything with minor manaregen, and once both Ariel and Frosth has their buffs up is pretty much machinegunclub with heavy def debuffs.

I usually measure firepower on last map season 1 and Pengi once he gets going are slicing up Dark Lord like a loaf of bread, and ariel/frosth tops off the manabar nicely.

  9. I’m newer to the game, less than a year, but am surprised that Atomos didn’t crack this list. I just pulled Poseidon and am happy to have him, but if you gave me a choice between the two, I wouldn’t have Poseidon…

  10. Hey Old Cynic I just got C. Ariel. from Level 3 Diety to meek where would you rank C. Ariel. I do alot of research on heroes and think you are the best expert on empires and puzzles, so knowing your straightforward opinion on that matter would be a great help! I also will make a comment on your Roughian and Nurgib post, just heads up. I just pulled a large haul of 2 Areaxs, 2 Roughian& Nurgibs, and 1 C. Ariel, though I was aiming for Oceanus lol. Though I am not disappointed after looking at some of your reviews!!!

    1. Hey Azlan, thanks for the support!

I can’t throw grades out based on the current Meta without spending an inordinate amount of time thinking about everything! 😆

I do like C. Ariel, she’s still a great hero but looking at the forum, she may have missed out on all the significant buffs, meaning I expect the modern Heroes would still run a muck in Raids. But otherwise, she’s great.

Out of interest, C. Ariel was considered a Deity under the old grading system (before the T1, 2, & 3), as was listed in my Best Healers countdown back in Aug 2022 (#7).

R&N is still one of the most impactful heroes in my roster. She’s a super sniper imv.

      Thanks again Azlan!

      1. So I had skimmed through that best healers article, before I made my initial post and totally missed the fact you mention Ariel and Customed Ariel would be about where Aino is (though she does not take that spot when it comes down to bc of too little room in a top 10). It is interesting that you would rank Ariel and C. Ariel a better healer than Toxicandra; not sure if that would also mean you think C. Ariel is better than Toxicandra (I mean the difference of boosted health is a powerful thing to consider in a hero). Nonetheless, it is still interesting, bc Toxicandra is FASTER. I know the current meta of E&P has recently evolved (though I gotta look into this big update a lil more); however I am content knowing that C. Ariel. was considered as 7th place for all in the previous meta. I also have who you considered the best healer in that article…Director Zuri. Now in my next comment post for Roughian&Nurgib, I would like to theorize who is better at mana manipulation… C. Ariel or R&N (I think I might have an interesting synergy).

        1. Hi Azlan, sadly there’s only so much value in going back and using that as a basis for today because so much has changed.

When C. Ariel first came out there were only a few boosted Healers, let alone B. Healers who Cleansed. But Immunity is now the new Cleanse in many cases. And the Meta wasn’t as quick as it’s became, or anywhere near as powerful.

The biggest issue today (imv) is that all the new powerful Heroes do so much. They’re walking tanks. And Average is the new Slow.

imv, if C. Ariel is gonna sit next to some modern monsters, she won’t be out of place, but again, I tend to consider heroes in isolation, as if a f2p/c2p player got hold of them on a standard’ish roster.

          Anyway, thanks for sharing!
