Anne – The Monster Pirate Hitter (Empires and Puzzles)

Anne Empires and Puzzles Hero Card

Anne just popped out of the Empires and Puzzles portal and word is, she told Alucard to hold her drink. This ghostly pirate is an unfiltered, damage-inflicting, apprehension-inducing, war machine.

I’m joking!

Anne Vs. Empires and Puzzles

Let’s just jump to the table. This is close to the same as we used for Alucard:

OldCynic.com – Anne Comparison Table

Anne could do up to approx 1485% damage; that’s about what Mr. Pengi will do with all the Minions.

And that’s just a matter of fact, should she hit early in the battle… and at Fast, there’s a great chance of her doing that.

If Anne were around for my Hardest Hitting Heroes Countdown, her total damage score would be 14,594 (adjusted for Mana Speed) and that would place her 5th on the Damage adjusted for Mana Speed table.

Above Khufu and Mr. Pengi.

Anne’s limited Criteria (Empires and Puzzles)

Anne is an unfiltered menace. While Heroes like Costumed Finley have the potential to hit all enemies with a devastating blow, they need the right conditions to make it so.

However, Anne’s primary concern is simply that you passed your last medical.

As long as your Heroes look healthy on the outside, Anne’s fitting to go. to. work.

5 happy, healthy, Heroes standing opposite her, are just living in a fool’s paradise.

They’re all about to feel the full brunt of her backhand.

The only saving grace is written here:

‘The damage is reduced on each consecutive hit.’

So, at least not everyone will have to suffer the 550% damage. But what will the ‘reduced damage’ represent when applied to Anne’s Special?

Who needs slow Hitters, anyway?

How Hard Does Anne Hit?

Tobov, the awesome contributor who shared his Hardest Hitting Heroes Data with us back in July (wow, time flies), has done some numbers around Anne’s potential damage.

And, I’ve got his permission to use them here, but please bear in mind, this represents his early surmising, so is not set in stone, -but they give us something to work with. Anyway, this is what he has:

Based on Finley’s damage, and similar card wording, Tobov approximates that Anne’s second hit will inflict approximately 80% of her original damage. Then 50%, then 30%, and finally, 10% damage.

And he thinks the resulting damage will look something like this:

1st hit: 1100 HP (550%)
2nd hit: 880 HP (440%)
3rd hit: 550 HP (275%)
4th hit: 330 HP (165%)
5th hit: 110 HP (55%)

These numbers are based on experience with similar percentages from other fully levelled and emblemed Heroes.

I’d like to note, the 4th and 5th hits look manageable. I’ve checked with Malosi, and he reckons he could take em, no problem.

New video evidence of Anne in action…

Watching this video of Anne in action (1.56 Sec), Anne may be even stronger than predicted here.

In the video, Anne hits for:

1st hit: 1024 HP
2nd hit: 1057 HP
3rd hit: 795 HP
4th hit: 620 HP
5th hit: 249 HP

However, that second hit is to Ana-Belle, the new 4-Star Hero.

With so many variables in Empires and Puzzles, I will let the dust settle before settling on a final estimate. Still, one thing is clear, she wields much power.

Anne likes to make Threats (Empires and Puzzles)

The crazy thing about Anne is what she does next, -after the slapping.

You gotta remember, she will likely fire off early and catch all of your squad sleeping, dribbling, and wiping them eyes and whatnot.

And after she messes them up for the first time, then she issues the mother of all threats…

“Go on, use your Special. I dare you. Double-wouble dare you, fool. Watch what happens to you, chump.”

😲

And if you do raise so much as a crooked Magic Wand, she’ll saddle you with -34% attack, -34% defense, and -24% mana generation, all for 4 turns.

That’s one hell of a party trick to pull at Fast (8 tiles)… Raids are gonna fly by.

-Anne isn’t just a massive Hitter, she causes widespread harm. She could hold your entire team to ransom!

Anne (Challange Festival)

My final thoughts:

As I said at the top, Anne has very few filters. The first time she fires off, she’s likely to hit 4 to 5 enemies, surely.

And, she leaves them all in a highly anxious state, as they hesitate to take any action. And that may be the real whammy here, coz once she’s surrounded by elite Heroes, you might not be able to hold back for 1/2/3/4 turns, while you try and shake it off.

Cleansers are gonna be back in fashion in a huge way, as will Healers, -with all this super-quick damage going on.

It’s true, that later in the battle her influence will wain, as you come to accept your loss 😁.

But that’s one hell of a way to live…. (I wanna live again!)

There will be ways to manage Anne just like any other powerful Hero, but a lot of that work might have to be re-active.

Anne does sooo much without any real qualifier that she has the real potential to change the outcome of a battle. She wholesale manipulates actions for the following 4 turns.

She’s a great Hero to own, and any Hero who demands you field a counter (like a Cleanser), is special indeed.

Hero Grade for Anne (Empires and Puzzles)

So for my grading, the question is:

Is this Hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle? Yes.

If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities? N/a.

  1. I saw her pass by today and had to read twice, just to be sure. She will become a prime target in teams instead of the tank, just like alfrike is. Only, with alfrike you have a fair chance of getting her out before she fires off. Anne on the other hand is fast😨.
I also read somewhere she was, to appear in the next PotC movie. Only problem was the fighting scènes only lasted 30seconds. And Johnny didn’t want to be in the movies anymore because she had the temper of am… Nope, let’s not go there

  2. My initial thoughts (and feelings), in order, immediately upon summoning Anne this morning with some leftover tokens I had available:
    1. Is Anne the warm-up act while my boy Goseck is charging up? (getting giddy)
    2. How many fighter emblems do I have? Answer: enough (hesitation, then relief)
    3. So much for my plan to focus on troop leveling. (oh well)
    4. How much fun can I have with her until she is nerfed? (antsy, is it worth it?)
    5. Omg… I have Rhys LBmaxed & emblemed (beyond giddy… it’s on)

  3. Honestly, im tired. Too many op heroes. Not getting them will see you hammered. Get them, you’ll be nervous when the nerf will drop in. Lol.
Great review, but at this point, with all the consecutive op heroes being brought in. I dont have the energy and better yet, the money to get them. Lol

Cheers Old Cynic, even if i dont pull for them, its always a delight to read about them here. Haha. Sharing to my alliance as per usual.

    1. Old cynic, where are you? We need your post on the new super elemental heroes. Lol. Not that I will ever get one. Hahaha

      1. Hey MIB! I didn’t go anywhere but I can’t cover every new hero! These things take about 6 hours to write/create so are pretty labour-intensive, and E&P can push them out quicker than I can type. I told myself I’d take a break after Alucard, but then came Anne. I want to write 4-6 E&P posts a month, down from 7-9, so I have better balance and time to also write a post or two in areas I’m also passionate about.

Gotta look after yourself or you end up trying to do too much!

  4. Thank you for the mention and another great review!

When first reading about Anne I experienced for the first time with E&P a weariness about the game. But looking further into the card I see that, while very strong, she is not game-ending.
As you write, her two lasts strikes aren’t that hard.
In addition, her secondary, while evil, happens when its your turns, so its easy to plan around by bringing a cleanser, not like C. Finley’s which will give you an immediate -56% def, often followed by his croonies killing you.

After understanding this my mood perked up, and went even higher after reading your review.

I remember people saying that Magic heroes and limit breaks would ruin the game. They didn’t, and I don’t think Anne will either, but we are seeing a bigger divide between spenders and non-spenders, which will always happen over time

Anyway – good luck and good gaming all!

    1. I’ve had the same feeling. It’s a really ankward week for me. I’ve never been so lucky. With saved tokens and 10 summons I get Miriam, Alucard, Matilda, Celiana… and Anne. But I’m in a mid tier alliance, we play for fun. And the gap is becoming huge against almost impossibles defence teams. I should be happy, but I’m not. If the game is purely about who fires first, it’s not fun. It’s not a game at all.

  5. She is imho way too strong for being fast. She obliterates the whole team and everyone who fires after her will kill at least half of the team, so recovering from that FAST attack is no real option on the table. I have spent a lot of money in E&P, but this time I came to the conclusion, that I will stop spending forever except for the PoV. Why?
Because I don’t like the path the game has chosen. In the early days I had a fair chance against even the top heroes when you figured out if you had to bring scissors, stones or paper to the fight. With these heroes it simply doesn’t matter who you take with you into the arena, since it is impossible without an A+Board to charge any riposte, overheal or dodge Hero in time before she fires. And after her firing the fight is over. I will sooner or later drop out of diamond and play only very casual in a small alliance, which means I will lose a constant Access to Titan-Parts and War chests which will then lead to me leaving the game.
    Great move, SGG!

  6. Don’t really get all the fuzz about this hero. Yes, she can do a lot of things, but there are so many ifs…
and the secondary only happens if you let the enemy fire….
Finley costume is so much better, and much better hollys out there.

  7. I just got her and couldn’t be happier but now I need to figure out my lines because she changes everything! I usually run Ludwig. prof L. Costumed Finley. Quenell. And asterius. My other maxed out healers are esme. diaochan. Azmia. Wang yuanji. And was working on Ana-belle. Who do you think I should take out or put in to make it all work?

    1. Hey Mill! I agree with Nachomain; Diaochan on with Anne. The speed is what I like there. Anne should be really powerful early on, but if she doesn’t fire quickly, ideally, a defensive hero will help keep her, til she does.

I do think a fast healer better lends itself to Anne’s skillset.

      Congrats on the great heroes!

  8. So , so OP!!!!
They have to nerf her soon.
Maybe Average speed and a little lower stats.
    Ahe is crazy strong!!!
And poor Telluria ws the problem…

  9. Spent a fortune and ended up getting her and Alucard. I have had one Raid Battle against Anne and still ended up winning, but I got a lucky board with a strong mono team…I won but just barely. I didn’t realize she does so much damage AFTER her primary special hit…that’s nuts! I have a very distinct feeling she will end up getting nerfed.

    1. Small fortune here, chasing cPanther, cKong, and cWhite Rabbit. I end up with three Anne’s. One is enough, maybe two – three! I just gave all my purple orbs to Nemesis. I’m in need of purple orbs.

  10. And poor Xnolphod sits in a dark corner, staring at the summoning portal, wondering what he did to get hit by the nerf hammer so bluntly.
