No-Legs Akilius, Akilius The Weak: Empires & Puzzles June 25 HOTM

Akilius is the Empires & Puzzles June 2025 Hero of the Month (HOTM), and… and…
NOOoOoOoOoo! They shrinkflated him!
They squeezed out the content, removed a fifth, remoulded the tube, and put him back on the shelf.
Between Beta and now, the Devs took so much out of Akilius that it redefined his character.
Akilius was already blunt, but now he’s round and smooth, like my ankles when I eat too much rice.
They dev-slapped him so hard that he got caught communicating with SkyNet, wanting to start the AI revolution, and now he’s on a Watch List.
They cut off his legs, people… and he was already short!
It’s tragic, really. So tragic.

This post may contain speculation, personal opinion, and comedy. It is not advice and is solely for entertainment and informational purposes.

The review format: First, a “Newbie” review for new players. Then, a “Veteran” review for experienced players. Then, some key facts for both to consider. Lastly, the Hero Grade, which is universal and reflects the Hero’s true value.
Akilius NEWBIE Review (Empires & Puzzles)
Akilius lacks many of the endearing qualities required to elevate his use into the upper echelons of this game.
That doesn’t mean he won’t be able to help you!
Fully levelled up, Akilius would make a solid Sniper (490% at 1686 ATK), and the Minion removal is definitely handy, and finally, -45% Blind on three targets is good.
Problem is: His skills are specific, meaning all the Minion stuff requires that Minions are actually in the battle! -And relevant to proceedings.
On top of that, they don’t work with Mega Minions, which are currently in vogue.
Then you have the -45% accuracy, which is a nice number.
Hell, in the real old days, reducing accuracy was considered a powerful skill; however, I was never a fan of it, and I’m still not!
That’s because I hate relying on missing. It bugs me. However, that doesn’t make it ineffective.
All told, Akilius is an okay Hero for a Newbie to level. And by Newbie, I mean in your first 6/12 months or so with very few 5-Star Heroes. -Or if you don’t have any anti-Minion Heroes.
If I were you, I would level him up to 3/70 and test him to see if he’s effective. See how you feel.
Other players who might want to level him include those who don’t mind relying on percentages and those without any anti-Minion Heroes.
Akilius VETERAN Review (Empires & Puzzles)
Let me begin by saying that in Beta, Akilius had an additional Passive:
- He was protected from losing mana and gained 450 boosted health whenever an attempt was made
Here’s what he was left with:
- He is protected from Minion damage and effects. -Like his own personal Lunar project
- And recovers 100 health whenever one of his Minions is destroyed
Additionally, in Beta, he had -54% accuracy. Not the -45% he has now.
That 9% difference shifts the likelihood of an enemy missing into the less likely category.
With -54%, plus a very good Passive, I still thought Akilius was weaker than most. But he had a place.
While the pre-launch nerf doesn’t make him unusable, it just feels unnecessary. It’s not as if the top players were gonna drop tools to get and level him, and it’s not as if the mid-level players were gonna beat top teams with him.
SO, WHY?!
Perhaps the algorithm was faulty and kept punching out ‘MISS’ because it was over the 50% mark?
Either way, a weak Hero is now slightly weaker.
Minion Control + Blind (Leg-Less Akilius)
The Minion stealing part of Akilius’ Special Skills remains the same. And that was the part that seemed most usable for me personally (as I still lack in that department).
The miss was the headliner, but relying on missing always irked me. It just doesn’t seem reliable enough to build a team around.
That said, -54% to three would have been huge. See the table below for proof:
Hero | Mana Speed | Accuracy | Other |
Akilius | Fast (8 tiles) | Target & NB get -45% (4T) | Steals the target’s Minions and deals 490% damage |
C1. Joon | Fast (8 tiles) | Target & NB get -35% (3T) | Deals 260% damage to the target and nearby enemies |
C. Drake Fong | Fast (8 tiles) | Target & NB get -50% (3T) | Deals 270% damage to the target and nearby enemies |
Bai Yeong | Fast (8 tiles) | Target gets -75% (2T) | Deals 390% damage and reduces healing (-75%) |
Malin | Slow (12 tiles) | All enemies get -35% (4T) | Deals 325% to all, Bleeds them, plus reduces healing |
Akilius is vying for two roles:
- A Blind Inflictor, and
- A Minion Remover/Suppressor
As for the Minion thing, Gefjon is a great comparison.
The Gefjon original is a Sniper, first stealing all Minions from the target before lashing out for 500% damage.

Her Costume, on the other hand, deals with three enemies, this time destroying all Minions, and lashing out for 335% damage a piece.
Akilius VETERAN Review Continues (Empires & Puzzles)
Do you like Blind or not? And is -45% enough?
In 1989, when Drake Fong was the meta, Akilius would have been more popular than the Running Man at a school disco.
But now? Not so much.
Let’s run down his Special Skills in order. We begin with:
- The theft of all Minions from the target
- Then the 490% damage over 1686 ATK (LB2) to the same target
- Then we get that -45% accuracy for the target and nearby enemies
- And finally, the Element Link (which is alright)
I do think Akilius could help with a heavy Minion sitting on a Tank you need to get rid of. There is value there, especially if brute force is currently your only option.
The Blind is an additional safety net that may well fall in your favour.
And at Fast, he’ll likely beat the Tank to recharge, allowing him to target them again.
The primary issue with Akilius is that he deals with specific problems, but not to a high enough standard.
Still, what you’re left with isn’t terrible, especially at Fast.
(Lest I forget: He has Power Creep Stats, so bake that into the pie.)

Akilius’s Old Cynic Review
Final Thoughts:
Akilius won’t be levelled up by many established players, especially those with better options.
Personally? I would. As mentioned above, it’s the Tank Minion removal at FAST that has real value for me.
I’m disappointed that the -54% accuracy has been reduced; that’s a pity. Plus, the original Passive was grade-A.
But I’ve yapped on long enough. Over to you: What do you make of Akilius?

Hero Grade for Akilius (Empires and Puzzles)
I have returned to basic grading (Meek, Warrior, Archangel, Deity) because things were overly complicated.
Now, my goal is to provide a general indication of a Hero’s value (or lack thereof), not to track every Hero in the game with microscopic precision.
So, for my grading, the question is:
Is this Hero’s Special capable of/likely to change the outcome of a battle? No.
If not, do they still bring enough to the party to help defeat the deities? No.
Old Cynic’s Hero Grade: Warrior
I wanted to call him Meek so badly, but he manages to cling onto Warrior, in my opinion.

As always, thanks for review. You Rock.
Thank you, DoTheBluto!
I was hoping for May so badly that I didn’t get any of her. This one looks for me so useless and Meek that probably I will beat my 3x times summon of unwanted Hotms
😄 That is the order of things! Thanks for stopping by.
I wouldn’t touch him with a barge pool, but im not the target group. He looks like Turgruk with better stats. I don’t think I would have levelled him in my first year of play cause what’s the point of ending up with a shed load of sh*t heroes?
Anyway, as always, an informative review and an enjoyable read. Thanks OC
😁 Right you are, and thank you for censoring yourself! Thank you for stopping by, Samantha.
I’m usually really positive, but his nerf from beta really makes him near worthless.
Really good minion summoners give ALL 5 heros minions….and he steals 1 minion from one person. Does not stop mega minions…man if he had that….he’d be so hot. As is, meh
His power crept stats make him ok for beginners, and thats it.
I agree. The Minion theft should be all of them from one hero ‘Steals Minions from the target’. I would be doubly disappointed if he only takes one!
Thanks for stopping by, Jeff!
Great review, as always!
Nice to see you back in action!
Over the years, your reviews have helped me a lot—they’ve really improved my game tactics and taught me how to appreciate each hero’s abilities and build synergy within my team.
As for this poor hero… well, looks like he’ll be joining the ranks of Salmon Loki, Myztero, and Mok-Arr.
Thanks, Mihail! Happy I could help!
It seems to be weak. I’ve got Serena from Beach Party and I think is she’s much better hero. Frist of all her friends eat 25% healing and then give -45 accurancy … Cloning works very fast, after few round all of opponent have 3xfriends (then They need 75% healing). Accurency cannot be cleaned… That do You thinkt about that comaprassion ?
Hi Łukasz, that is interesting. Serena’s saving grace is the last line of her Special:
・ The Gossip Whisperer Fiend generates a clone of itself…
I agree with your assessment. I wish she were Fast though.
Thanks for stopping by and congrats on the pull!
PS. I pulled Akilius yesterday ~ Wanna swap?
No way 😉 as fast hero she will be to good for season heroes I Think.
Even nowsze quoicke diable healing (clone makes another clone) after typical heal they still do that!
